Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection - 4/27
I don't think this has been posted yet. From DVDDrive-In:
Great price, for what sounds like a great set. I just hope the extra features from the previous releases of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein are included.

On April 27, Universal will release "Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection," made up of titles previously released but currently out of print. The three-disc set will include FRANKENSTEIN (1931), BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, SON OF FRANKENSTEIN, GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN and HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. No FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN or HOUSE OF DRACULA. This set will retail for under $30.

They've got it listed as a 2-disc set, but DVDDrive-In says 3 discs...

With Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing coming this May 7th, Universal Studios will be re-releasing their classic monster line up. First up, FRANKENSTEIN:

Frankenstein (1931)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Son of Frankenstein (1939)
Disc Two:
Ghost of Frankenstein (1942)
House of Frankenstein (1944)
It lacks both 'Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man' and 'House of Dracula,' so these will most likely be placed on the Wolf Man and Dracula Legacy box sets.

Great news and great price, but does anyone know if the docs and commentary tracks that were on the original releases of the first 2 films are included in the new set? (maybe unlikely considering that they are throwing 3 films on the first disc).

This is cool if the extras from the first releases of Frankenstein and Bride are on there. If not it kind of sucks. Those were some great extras to have as a classic horror fan.

I've already got all these, but what a nice set. Bride of Frankenstein is a wildly creative movie, but I still think the original is the tightest pure horror movie of the bunch, and maybe of any of the Universal classic monsters. I think both Son and Ghost are highly enjoyable as well, and House isn't that far off. Highly recommended.

If all those films are really on just two discs, it's unlikely there will be room for extras (absent some serious data compression). I'll pick this set up, but I'm glad that I also have the coffin set mentioned in the other thread.

I don't know how much space extras would take up, but these are the time stats for the discs. Perhaps they can fit extras.

I own the Coffin set also, but I will gladly pick this up, just for the last three sequels. I just hope that Dracula / Invisible Man also get the same treatment, I'd love to see their sequels released in the same fashion.

Speaking of "Van Helsing", it would be nice if Universal also released THE BRIDES OF DRACULA. I'd also like THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN while they're in the Frankenstein mood.

Making a return engagement in 2004 is Universal Studios Home Video's highly-acclaimed Classic Monsters Collections, which will be reissued in new special repackaged versions. These multi-flick packs will drop many of the extras found on the previous versions, but will include multiple titles and offer plenty of bang for the buck regardless. First up on April 27th will be the two-disc Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection, featuring the original Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein and House of Frankenstein. Each is presented in their original 4:3 full screen aspect ratios and Dolby mono, and no major extras. Retail will be $26.95.

I think it's fair to assume Universal is releasing Dracula next. You can all start thanking me for these releases. You see, I have the power to control the universe. All I have to do is buy an OOP DVD off Ebay, (i.e., such as from Universal's monsters collection) and then the press releases come out within a few days of how the movie is about to be reissued.
Anyone know of other DVD auctions you would like for me to consider? I can take up a collection. That way, for a small fee, you too can participate in altering the space-time continuum.
