What Commentaries Should I Watch?

Well, I've actually never sat down and watched the commentary for any DVD That I own. Mostly because I barely have time just to watch the movie, but with Christmas break here I have some extra time on my hands and was wondering if anyone could recommend which commentaries I should watch. You can see my collection in my signature, thanks.

I looked through your collection on DVDAf (nice collection, by the way!) and while I'm sure you've got some great commentaries in there, and there are some that I've been meaning to listen to myself, the only ones I've actually listened to personally are the ones on Family Guy, which I'd highly recommend. There are two on each disc; I found all of them to be extremely informative and entertaining. Oh, and I also listened to the one on Liar Liar, but I thought that one was just okay.

I personally havent Watched any commentary.

I have listened to a few, though.

Terry Gilliam's commentaries are always great (12 Monkeys, etc.).

12 Monkeys
Apollo 13
Donnie Darko (was just ok but if you like the movie it may be interesting)
X-Men

If you subscribe to Netflix it's probably worth it to get the SE versions of Black Hawk Down and LotR and listen to those as well.

Both Fight Club and Seven have multiple commentary tracks that are excellent.

Phone Booth has a fine Joel Schumacher commentary.

And check out Jerry Maguire where you can watch the participants as the commentary unfolds - unusual and fun.

Almost Famous is definitively worth your time.
So is Natural Born Killers.
If you want to kill some time, I'd say listen to all commentaries of Fight Club.

Ah, that's easy -

Back to the Future. Bob Z is a intresting commentator, and it's a question/answer format instead of him just talking. And it doesnt go for the entire movie, so they're easy to sit through.

The Family Guy commentaries are funny as hell because sometimes the cast members start ripping on each other in character.

Gov'ner Ah-nold is a laugh riot on any commentary he's done, including Total Recall. Not quite as good as his Conan commentary, but still a great listen.

You want to know what commentaries are the worst? The 9th Gate and the Simpson's. God awful! The Simpson's spend all there time laughing and never saying anything-- like the Chasing Amy one but without any enjoyment. And the 9th Gate was 90mins of a guy smoking. Oh and Frankenmiller was a disapointment for me as well.

The best one I've found are any ones that Rodger Ebert does. These guy really knows his stuff and you get a real sense that he loves movies. I didn't like him reviews much and I liked him even less, but after the first time I heard one of his comantaries I took it all back.

I know I'll flamed for even mentioning it, but I like the commentaries by Michael Bay on the Rock, Armageddon, and Bad Boys. Ben affleck on the Armageddon commentary is funny.

This Is Spinal Tap has one of the best commentaries I have ever heard. Aside from it being a very funny movie with very memorable characters, the commentary is done by the 3 main actors, in character!

It makes for hilariously refreshing take on commentaries, and is just as, if not more funny than the original movie.
