Where's GoodFellas and Casino
I've been seeing requests for movies to go to DVD and one like Star Wars, and Indie (now here) have been numerous, but not alot of ranting on these classics...
I know the latter was never released on DVD, but what can I say about the Casino and Goodfellas is that the current DVD is nothing better than a non-wearing VHS, hell the goodfellas dvd is also a flipper...
I know there have been posts regarding this and that it should be coming in a year or so...but I just needed to get this out of my system,,,,I have not purchased both because of the reason they are #$#@! dvds right now...with grainy picture, crap sound and I can't beleive in a time when we get bloody 2 disk Superbits for films like XXX, Anaconda, MIB and all the other #@@#$@ Superbits out there, we have to wait for movies like Casino and Goodfellas to be honoured, these guys need to show Martin S. some respect instead of just shoving commercial stuff down...if not one day we will only have movies that are just EYE CANDY with no substance to it....
The day I see Casino and GoodFellas as:
2 Disk Special editions digitaly remastered with
Sound: DTS , Dolby 5.1
Format: Anamorphic Widescreen · 2.40:1
Extras: Commentary Tracks
Making of
Featurettes
Deleted Scenes
Galleries
Trailers
and much more
man that will be the Day DVD finally arrives for me...

I have both of the old releases and watch them rarely.
Casino has a terrible picture, but it is anamorphic.
Goodfellas is a non-anamorphic flipper. Enough said.
I'm with you....the sooner the better.

Goodfellas has NOT been officially announced. In the last HTF chat with Warner, they did not want to indicate when Goodfellas is coming out.
I wouldn't call Casino's transfer "horrible" at all. I think it's decent - but room for improvement.
Since each of these are three hour movies, including DTS would be a mistake.

Scorsese switched to 2.35:1 with Cape Fear in 1991 and all of his subsequent features have been at that ratio.

Warner burns my ass because it has been well documented that Henry Hill and Scorsese both recorded commentaries for Goodfellas back in 2001, yet the release has been dragged out forever.
Casino looks great and sounds excellent. Supplements would be nice but I can't really complain.
