To all of the people who didnt by Battlestar Galactica JUST because of the Cylon Head

My Galactica set showed up today. And I thought I'd pass along the word that although the Cylon head is cool, the DVDs do indeed come in a normal box, too. There's no need to dominate your shelf with a gimmick DVD box.

Here's some quick pics. . . .

The Cylon Head and the liner notes

The box all folded up

The discs and the box

See? No need to pass the set up, JUST because of the head.

I'ld seen the Cylon head, but never thought anyone would NOT buy the set because of it. Heck, I would just like the Cylon head as a prop in my toy room.

They missed a good gimmick if it doesn't.

Not exactly - it's like one of those cards where if you look at it from one angle, it shows one picture and when you tilt it slightly it's another picture. Cool looking, but not lighted.

No need to pass the set up, JUST because of the head.
Except of course to wait and see if there is a price drop when they get rid of the goofy head

I'm passing because of the price. Should be able to pick one up in a few months for $50-$60.

Got mine from Amazon with STL...about $75 shipped. Not bad, considering the Best Buy price is $89.99

The discs and the box
Is there something missing in your picture? I thought this was supposed to be a six-disc set, but your view of the box and discs only shows three DVDs.

I'll be disappointed if it's only three discs (even if they're flippers, I can imagine the compression would be pretty rough if it's only three).

By the way, can anybody report what some of the deleted scenes are? Any close-ups of the imperious leader? Serina's "original" storyline from the pilot?

It's definately 6 discs.. He folded out the "Baltar" side but didn't fold out the "Adama" side... and my Bestbuy had it for $83.99.

It's $79.99 at Circuit City. I price-matched this morning at Best Buy. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't stand up very well...I'd display it but I'm afraid it is going to fall over face-first...

Here's something else...

The new release of the Battlestar Galactica movie has a $10 mail-in-rebate if you purchase the TV series (or the video game). Makes my TV series now $69.99!

Same here. I had never even heard of it until I saw some pics of it.

For all you face haters out there, it looks like you could safely peel off the cylon mask and be left with a cool 'faux' chrome case if you really hate it that much..

Wrap yourself in tinfoil and reuse the mask at halloween... by your command

Whoa, this thing's much bigger than I'd thought! Even after seeing all the pictures posted here and elsewhere, I still expected something more DVD-sized, not a huge oversized box like the E.T. set!

Do you have to cut something up (ruin the packaging) to get the rebate?

bought my set this morning at BB for $89.99. going afterwork to pricematch CC's ad for the 110% difference. i'd definitely send in for the $10 rebate if it didn't require a cut up of the box, but i think it will.
