Change "treadmill" to "ski machine" and the answer is yes.

That is... when I'm motivated enough to actually get *on* the ski machine. But sure. Makes a dull task like that seem a little better.

Great thread, I purchased a PaceMaster ProElite last week. Shaved 20 minutes off the commute to the gym and can now watch DVDs while I run. I have to turn the volume way up to cover the sound of my running.

I will be getting on the thing in the next few hours. Hmmm... what do you watch when your on there? I have been doing episodes of TV series, but have been thinking about listening to a commentary or watching a documentary. I hardly ever get to these so this may be the best time to do it.

Change "treadmill" to "exercise bike" and the answer is yes.

The episodic stuff is great because you can use it like a timer.

I do. The Core, ST:Nemesis, and Seasons 1-4 of DS9 make walking on that Treadmill a lot easier.

No, I don't, but that is a great idea.

I will give it a try.

I do my jogging/walking outside, so no. Usually read a magazine when I'm on the exercise bike.

Change "treadmill" to "light weight resistance training" and the answer is yes. Usually TV show type of DVDs or music DVDs. Currently spinning The Simpsons Season 3.

Yes, nearly every day. I usually save things like documentaries and audio commentaries for the treadmill. I prefer to be focused and relaxed for watching the actual movie/show.

I watch DVDs when I exercise, but never on a machine. Neat idea though.

I'm suprised so many do. Most people on this forum get upset when they have to get up to flip a disc or put in a second disc.

I sometimes get on the treadmill and watch DVDs. If the weather's nice, I prefer running outside, but if feel like jogging at night or when it's raining out it's great to get on the treadmill and watch a movie. The only problem is I'm higher up than the TV so the picture doesn't look so great (projection TV). It's still way better than staring at the wall though.

Yep, my workout routine fits nicely into a 45-50 min TV eps (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits being the main ones).

My treadmill is in my computer room, so I either watch a DVD or listen to the Dave Ramsey radio show (via Dave's website) while walking. It is a GREAT way to pass the time...

I agree that I would rather watch a commentary, long documentary, or TV show while walking than to watch an actual movie, itself. I find episodes of Friends to be great exercise material.

No as I don't own one. My preferred postion for watching DVDs is on the couch with shoes/shirt off, in boxer shorts with a beer in my left hand and the remote control in my right. That is unless I have company...

I'll watch Music Video/Concert DVD's while doing situp's and armcurls inside the house. All other workout activity I use a MP3 Player outside.

Yep! I like listening to commentaries or watching TV shows. I have a 27" TV two feet in front of my treadmill. It's hooked up to a DVD player and a DirecTV-Tivo unit. It sure passes the time.

a treadmill?

I work 10 to 15 hour days...on my feet. I'm a human treadmill and have little time to spend walking/running in place. my job is better than any gym membership. wish I had that kind of time to kill, or that kind of energy to spend after working. I'll sit on my massage chair and watch, thanks.

Hmmmm...interesting responses. I guess the reason I asked is because a while ago I started listening to commentaries on my portable dvd player via heaphones (no video) while walking outside. I was amazed at how much it helped pass the time. Recently, I decided to take it a step further and put my treadmill in front of the t.v. to listen to and watch dvd's. Sounds like TV on dvd or commentaries is the way to go. Thanks for the suggestions.

That was a literal (yes, literal!) "laugh out loud" comment!

I used to do the Nordic Track thing while watching things I had taped. Same basic idea.

Maybe I would, but I work out at a gym. So I just listen to my MP3 player and watch the TVs in the gym (with closed captioning) while I do my cardio.
