Re-release of Belle De Jour?
I was at Borders around a month ago and couldn't find "Anamorphic Widescreen"/16x9 on the information for the disc.
Last Tuesday (according to Amazon) "Belle De Jour" was re-released and is now enhanced for 16x9 tvs.
Did anyone pick this up? Can anyone confirm that this is a video upgrade for the disc. The reviews I read for the older version (if this is in fact a newer version and not just a price change) were that the video quality was awful.
Thanks in advance for your reply

I am not aware of a difference between the "re-release" and the original (other than the lower price). However, it does appear to be anamorphic. My copy is in the mail, and if no one else replies before I get a chance to check it out, I will let you know what I find out when it arrives.

Beware: The Original Miramax release stated that it was "enhanced for 16x9 televisions", but it is not. The press release for that edition appears identical to that of the "new" release (it also promised an interview with Catherine Deneuve, which wasn't on the "first" release).
The final nail in the coffin is that the "first" release and the "new" release have the same UPC. That says to me that they're identical releases--the only difference is the MSRP.
This is my favorite Buñuel film--I would have gladly double-dipped for a new anamorphic transfer (the PQ of the "first" release is a little soft, and the colors a bit faded, but it's by no means "awful").

I am 99% sure that this "re-release" was just a price-drop and printing more of the same dvd. I would be shocked if this title was suddenly anamorphic.
