I need some advice: what's your favorite game for PS2?

I have lots of sports titles, but I'm looking for something fun that's not just sports.

Any good suggestions for me?

I enjoy games like: Bond, Mario Kart, Tony Hawk.

I second ICO. Also I had way more fun with "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance" than I thought I would have. Just finished Jak and Daxter which was fun and now that Ratchet and Klank is going GH I'll pick it up for $20 too!

For me
Ratchet & Clank
Dark Cloud 2
GTA : VC
Amplitude
Tony Hawk 4
SSX Tricky

There really isn't a FPS I'd recommend for the system, they all leave me disappointed; though I guess Red Faction 2 is okay if you can find it cheap. Timesplitters 2 got good reviews but I didn't like it for single player. Also there is no true FSP online game available for the PS2(I'm not counting the squad-based SOCOM or Tribes : AA).

Is AC4 really that good? I've been toying with the idea of getting it but I'm worried it'll be like the PSone games.

Ratchet and Clank, if I had to pick just one.

But the GTA games come very, very closely behind.

Ratchet and Clank is a platformer, so if you like games like Mario, Sonic, etc. you should like it.

I guess I'm trying to decide what to buy among:

SSX Tricky
Medal of Honor
Simpsons Road Rage
Downhill Demolition
Grand Theft Auto III
Ratchet and Clank (since everyone here loves it)

I guess I'll probably get two.

I do like those games, but I felt Sonic Adventure for DC was about the simplest and most "kiddie" game I've ever played. Is R&C any different/better??

Yes.

The Sonic adventure games were terrible IMO.

I'd hold of on R&C for a while though, according to a thread here it's about to drop to $19.99 as a GH title soon.

ONe last note: I got Jonny Mosely's Mad Trix as a gift, and while I enjoy it b/c it's skiing, it's really bad.

Is SSX Tricky better?? How so?
