panasonic pt47wx42
my parents are in the market for a new tv. they saw the panasonic pt47wx42 at a local place around here (we live in the middle of nowhere). it's a floor model, for $1300 and some change. i'm sure they can talk them down. is this a good deal? or is there some other tv they should look for? their price range is around $1500. thanks

DO NOT... I repeat, DO NOT buy a floor model of a HDTV! Those demo models are going 12 hours a day 7 days a week and have more then half of their CRT (picture tubes) already used up! The salemen will try to say" don't worry the warranty will cover it if the CRT's wear out early". This is a total lie! They will even guarantee it is covered (verbally) but when it comes time to get warranty from the warranty company guess what? They will NOT cover it! NO warranty will cover wear & tear but are for manufacturers defects! Tell your parents to spend the extra for a new HDTV or they will be sorry!
