Like the disc art..don't care much for the cover art..

[Could be worse though...it could be a "floating head" Lion King cover..]

I'm enjoying the Platinum covers.. since they ARE the only version of the movie on disc they have to compromise between showing the characters and being artistic. Look at all thier dual releases, regular release is usally a bad character shot, the collector's editions are sleek and artistic.

i'm in love with the disc art but also am only satisfied with the cover art. i wish they would have used one of the other images from the theatrical posters. i especially like this poster:

That is a nice poster (I bought one for my girlfriend), but the collector's Laserdisc box had the BEST artwork for this movie.

Looks great... but what's with the gold banner at the top and bottom... shouldn't the Platinum series have a PLATINUM coloured banner??

Over in the (ahem) other thread about the cover art, I was extolling the virtues of the CE laserdisc cover art. Very simple and classy. This new cover isn't too bad. I prefer fewer characters on the cover but, eh, it's only a cover.

Now, the disc art is VERY cool. Nicely done!

i'd actually prefer the poster. there were many better things they could have done with the beauty and the beast art as it has the best theatrical posters for disney movies, imo.

it is sfx because the special effects geeks thought it was funny. and yes it is gone as the theatrical cut on the dvd is the imax cut and it has no sfx dust anymore.

I still think it's S-E-X

but what a pity it'll be gone

You know what? I blame LD! If not for that bulky format that never appealed to the masses, no one would have ever discovered these things, and we’d have Roger Rabbit DVD intact, we’d have “sex” written in the skies, nude women in the rescuers, and a whole lot more!!

By the way, was the “erection” in the OOP little mermaid DVD been taken out? Might be a good indication if it’ll make the Platinum edition in a few years

Anyhow, I’ll at least treasure my Cinderella bootleg for the moment just in case they decide to censor from the platinum. There’s one line where the fairy God Mother tells her “have fun be gay”. That’s potential censorship martial!! (yea yea laugh all you want but Disney has censored a lot less)

I think the DVD cover would be better if "Featuring An All - New Song" was taken out.

No kidding. Couldn't they simply put that on a sticker on the outside of the case?

Something like this perhaps?

Cover created by DVD Talker Michael Corvin, check his thread in coverart for more of his great work, or to ask where to get this cover

Well, you could order a print from DVDCoverart, when they allow that cover to be put up (which should be about a week before LK hits streets)
