Eyes Wide Shut: two important scenes

I have a favor to ask from... well, all of you:

I have to write a paper for my film studies course on a scene from a film, and I have decided to analyze a scene from Eyes Wide Shut. I decided to forgo the orgy sequence, since it is a little too long for the kind of paper I have been assigned, and even if it were not, I would not choose to write on it unless I could watch an uncut version of the film. I have focused on the two major monologues of the Nicole Kidman character, since I think there is a great deal of content in both for me to work with. The problem is that I am deadlocked in my decision; I cannot choose between the two.

The scenes in question are from 00:30:15 - 00:37:17 in chapters 6-7 on the DVD, and 01:31:40 - 01:38:25 in chapters 23-24. (This is, of course, my own opinion about where these scenes actually "begin" and "end.")

If anyone could steal 15 minutes or so to look these scenes over and help me decide, I would appreciate it.

Go with the first one. As much as the second one introduces the themes of dreams and doubling, the first one is the more important because it sets in motion the events of the rest of the picture.

I tend to agree...

Good choice BTW, an outstanding film that requires multiple viewings and analysis.

what makes you think the movie was cut there? I had the impression that owing to Kubriks death, very little editing was done.

does the edited orgy scene detract from the rest of the movie? i was under the impression (as roquer) that the cuts did not have much value. also is there a place i can get this unedited? i have the r1 disc at current.

No! That's the whole problem. And as far as the way I feel, any cut, no matter how small, is a big problem.

According to my knowledge, the uncut form is availible overseas, and the american censored verison has like digital blurring over the men.
