Matching covers I'm currently working on.

I don't know yet if this is correct posting this in a new thread, so if it isn't I apologize....

At the moment I am working on these covers for whomever may be interested:

Alien matching covers. (like the AP set)
Askewniverse matching covers. (like the AP set)
Ring, The Ring matching or themed covers.

Perfectly fine with me. One of the many uses of having our own forum.

I think all these custom covers are great. I don't know if this is the right place to ask but here goes. What kind of programs do you use? I would like to try and make some of my own but don't know where to start. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can pretty much use any graphics program to make them. I use Corel-Photo 10, but most people seem to use Adobe. I have heard the Paint Shop Pro does a good job as well.

DV, will you be using a blue shade for Aliens? That would look awesome.

Looks good Chris. I always hated those black & grey spines, Green is much better. 1 question though. Are you going to use the original DVD artwork for them?? I ask this because I actually like 3 of the 4 fronts they used, the only one I don't like is Aliens front & Ressurection would look better without the critic blurb.

Get outta my head JJE!!! haha! Yes, I was planning on replacing the coverart for ALIENS. I am also going to use the actual DVD art from 1,3 and 4. without the blurb of course.

P.S. I hate the original spines as well.

Excellent work Darth. I second the call for a blue Aliens cover, though. I don't have 3 & 4 in my collection, and don't really care for those 2 enough to ever bother buying them, so color continuity isn't going to be a problem for me. If you do decide to make an alternate Aliens, please do go with blue. That would be really cool.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing. There are Alien fans that only own 1 and 2, and then there are fans that own all 4. So I'll make them both ways.

Yes Paint Shop Pro is an excellent choice if you don't wish to spend a small fortune on Photoshop. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 & it is excellent.

Hmmm...Was it Sharpline that did the nice one a long time ago?

I'd think for Continuity Sake, yeah, you'd want to...but, that may be one of those things that goes to User Preference.

BTW, I'll jump on the bandwagon with everyone else and say "Very Nice" so far on it. I think I'm gonna term the style "Z-DV" for Zinema-Darthvong. :-) Think that'll work?

Oh, and any idea which images you're gonna use for Alien and Aliens?

HAHA! "Z-DV" huh? Sounds like a bad radio station.

I'm going to use the classic egg poster for the first one, but i havent quite figured out what I'm using for Aliens yet.
Yes, Sharpline did do the Bonus 5th disc cover.

I think a bonus disc cover would be great. I picked a copy of it up at a pawn shop for $8, strange thing is I got it before I got the movies.

Good idea, thanks. I'd prefer the blue much more than green.

Darthvong: Found a site that you've likely already seen...

http://www.xenomorph.org/item_page.php3?ID=84

Too bad there's no way to use the Simpsons ones...those cracked me up a little.

Your cover start looks pretty good...Tho, I'll admit it'd be hard between the shot of Ripley with the gun, or just the "This time it's War" poster....good luck.

Am still looking for other poster art...am sure there were a few different "cool" ones out there.

That's the one I'd love to have. I'm sure whichever you use, it will look fantastic. Keep up the good work.

DV, that kicks ass. Do you have any plans to make the template itself available?

The Alien Legacy Collection is coming along nicely. If I finish one up, I'll post it here.
I'm also working on a Godfather sleeve for a 5 Disc Case. I know there is 2 already at DVDCoverArt.com, but I wanted something a little different than whats already there. (No offense to the artists of the existing covers)
I'm also thinking about doing individual covers for each Godfather film as well.
I am going to work on a matching set of Ring covers that will include the Japanese Versions: Ring, Ring 2, Ring 0, and Rasen. Ring will have 2 covers to reflect the Region 1 and Pal releases. I am also going to do one for the American Versionof The Ring. I'm not putting an image on the spines however.
