What's this movie? (It's driving me crazy)

I know that there have probably been a couple of these, but the basic premise is an undercover cop gets sent to prison, but only one person knows about his true identity and that person dies, keeping the cop in prison.

Thanks for any input.

You're not thinking of Face/Off right, that was probably the most recent of those movies.........

I assure it's not "Drive Me Crazy." That's a teen chick flick.

Actually that sounds like a cool premise for a movie.

It's not Face/Off. Nobody stays in prison in that movie.

Nick Cage switches faces w/ John Travolta and is sent to prison. He escapes, but he is in prison for a period of time.

Face/Off is the first thing that popped into my head also.

However, I suspect that this is not the first time that Hollywood has scrounged up that premise.

Doesn't Stallone's Lock Up have a similar premise?

Here are two from the '70s. I doubt either one is what you're looking for though.

They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way (1978)
Small-town deputy is ordered by the governer to go undercover, posing as a criminal, in a maximum security prison. Shortly after his mission begins, the governor dies, leaving him and his partner stranded in jail.
Women in Chains (1972)
Lady parole officer goes undercover to investigate prison brutality, but is trapped when the only person on the outside who knows why she's there is killed.

Stallone is not a cop in Lock Up, he's a regular con.

hmmm...maybe you dont get sarcasm or the fact that about 100 other people had to mention face off even though the first person to do so was sufficient.
