8 Mile...Yesterday's News?

This film got rave reviews and had a huge opening, but where did it go? I know it's still making doe (I think it was #7 at the box office), but there hasn't been a thread on here about 8 Mile since opening weekend. The average user of this site is the target demographic, yet no one seems to be interested in dicussing it.

Where did it go?

Hollywood churns them out much like the pop music scene. There is always a flavor of the month.

C'mon Pants, you're not a newb, that's the way things go around here. In a few weeks it'll be Bond who?

Unless its LOTR or Star Wars, conversion is always going to peak and then fade away.

I really don't think members of DVDTalk are the target audience, unless they all live at home and drive supped up Hondas.

You must read to much Entertainment weekly then.

last weeks movies are always just that. Last week's movie. Not to say they aren't good. It's just that there is always something new to look forward to.

Well, my question was rhetorical. And aimed at all the critics (professional and arm chair) who thought this was some kind of oscar worthy endevour. I thought the movie sucked (was easily the worst movie I've seen this year) and I just wanted to get some input from those that believed (or not) the hype about this being good. That goes for a lot of critics (cough...Ebert) who were deluded into thinking this movie was any good.

I'm way behind, but I saw this tonight. It was pretty dumb I thought. Predictable and contrived and there was nobody to root for because eminem's character was an a-hole. Apart from that, some of it was kinda funny and eminem's rhymes were pretty good if you're into that. Eminem's acting got progressively better as the movie went on it seemed... either that or I stopped noticing how bad it was. He's okay - he's not so bad that I'd say "stick to rappin", it was more like 'nothin special.'

Personally I hate anyone with more money than me.

On topic, I am an Eminem fan, but I'm waiting for this on DVD. I didn't like what I saw of his acting from the commercial, and I didn't want to sit with what would be the opening crowd, but I'll definitely pick up the DVD when it comes out.

What else is there to discuss about? The movie has been out for awhile.

It'll come back up when the dvd is released.

Maybe people share your opinion too and that's why no one is talking about it.

Yeah, but I hated it so much that I just can't stop trashing it. I can't wait for the year to end so I can name it worst movie of the year.
