I mean game pro hasn't been good in years.
with the net and all the info you get here.. do you really depend on magazines?

I've subscribed to EGM for years. I trust their reviews more than any other magazine or website, and I think the writing is of a much higher quality than any of the web sites. Plus I greatly prefer reading a magazine or a newspaper than reading a web site. The only advantage the web has is being updated daily, hourly etc.

I get PC Gamer, EGM and GamePro, but the only sub I paid for was for PC Gamer. I take advantage of the many free subs available out there - some have been posted on this very board!

Well I get EGM and Gamepro free aswell (thanks to dvdtalk) but if I wasn't getting them free I wouldn't even bother with them. the question was brought up because as I looked through gamepro I could only see utter crap. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for it. noobs in the FAQ section of the magazine system bashing and the reviews are usually off the wall.. then again, with video game reviews... it would just depend on what games you like. I can decide myself what game sucks ass and what doesn't.
I just found the whole magazine market pretty pointless as of late especially most of the video game magazines. out dated news mixed in with crappy reviews

EGM and GamePro for Free and I pay for Nintendo Power.
EGM and GamePro seem to have lost quite a bit from when I used to pay for them 5 or 6 years ago.

Because of the "free subscriptions" thread in Hot deals about 6 months ago, i'm currently getting 3 gaming magazines.
Gamepro i somehow ended up with two subscriptions to, so one gets trashed as soon as it comes in. Gamepro hasn't been good in ye...wait gamepro was never good.
PSM is... Well, its better than gamepro, and since i only have a PS2 it helps weed out the in-depth 6-page review of kabuki warriors.
I would have to say EGM is the BEST out there right now... The three-opinion rating is great, cause it gives you an overall from 3 different gamers. EGM is about 200pages every month, as opposed to the 80 page PSM or 150 page Gamepro. And EGM gives you a fair view of everything, and a more mature feel to the writing.

I recently got in touch with a woman I dated when I was in college, and was surprised to find out she's the managing editor of Computer Gaming World, so I've been buying the mag at the airport as I travel for work.
I will probably pick up a subscription soon, but it's more for the hardware and computer stuff than for reviews of the games. I can get those on the web easily.
Always randomly bought EGM, but never got a subscription.

I subscribe to Gamepro and EGM now, coz they were both free. Before, I paid for EGM and PSM, though as I barely play any games now, I didn't think it was worth it to continue them. I would never pay for Gamepro. I'm suprised anyone would.
