best way to hook up XBox?

should I hook up my XBox to my receiver and then to TV or goto TV first and then to receiver? Every now and then I watch DVD movies with XBox and listen to XBox games with music and sound effects in stereo, but I want to get the benefits of the audio enhancements, etc of both worlds... However, I don't want to have to turn on my receiver every time I want to play XBox, ya know what I mean? My wife kinda doesn't like it when the chics from DOA3 are screaming and yelling and the sound effects are vibrating throughout the house...

I run my X-Box through a four way splitter(Radio Shack), along with my DVD, Satellite, and PS. You run an S-video from each into it's own port on the splitter as well as RCA's for sound. Then I run the S-video straight to the TV. The RCA's come out of the box, then I use "Y" splitters to run them to the TV and receiver. This way I can listen with the TV or stereo, or both if you want.

I know some people have different ways, and probably easier ways of setting up, but this has worked for me so I'm sticking to it!

cool, I was thinking of using a splitter for the A/V cable and just run one set to the receiver and the other set to the TV. This will work OK?

I run my PS2 into my TV, which allows me multiple possibilities.

The sound can come from the TV speakers (if they're turned on).

The sound can be run through the receiver for full sound in all it's glory.

The sound can be run (via the receiver) to heaphones for single users.

Cabling will depend on your receiver/TV.
