Any deals on PS2?
I am looking at ordering my friend a PS2 for a late Christmas present, does anyone know any good online deals, either as a pcakage deal or free shipping?

Virgin Megastore is selling almost everything 30% off with an AMEX Blue card. They sell PS2 so now is just a matter of you finding a Virgin Megastore and having an AMEX Blue card.

If you don't mind getting it used, check out gamestop.com. As part of their Stopwatch Sale, you can get a used PS2 with three used PS2 games for $249.99. The games are NHL 2001, Kessen, and Madden NFL 2001. I finally caved in and ordered a PS2; I'll probably just ebay the games since I'm not that interested in them, and I've already got a few good PS2 games sitting here just waiting to be played! The Stopwatch Sale ends sometime on Wednesday (12/26) morning. Oh yeah, and shipping is only $7.99.

There was a post on anandtech earlier about the ps2 price dropping to $199 on 12/29. I don't know if it is true or not, but I would at least wait till 12/29 to see what happens.

Yeah I know, Blockbuster would never get off their lazy asses and get me any of the contracts to deal directly. Yeah we did get credit on any remaining units that we bought before they dropped, but it was just easier, and we always had enough.
Actually thinking about it, it may have been because we predicted the future for Nintendo's Virtual Boy, and someone from the press quoted one of our employees without permission., and this was all on the day of the launch.

As well as its selling Sony would be crazy to drop the price right now. FFX, GTA3, and MGS2 are enough to move systems for the time being. I wouldn't mind if they did. If it happens within 30 days I'll just get the difference from Best Buy.

In a few months or so when these titles become available on the X-Box (well except for FFx), I'm sure Sony will reconsider dropping the price.

I think the price will drop some time in 2002, but who knows when. I'm sure the production costs of the PS2 have dropped.

But I like having them now. .... I'm going the other way, I already have the PS2.... if the exclusives are there for X-Box, I'll buy that when the price drops.

currently eb has a pre-owned ps2 for 249 plus there is 15% off coupon brings the price down to 212. shipping is 9.99 for 2-day air. the coupon code is ROCKET15.
actually the coupon works on all preowned games and hardware. they also have some newer games too. save yourself like 5 bucks or so no too bad

The PS2 came shrinkwrapped with the controller and cables... no box or manuals. I was a little disappointed, because the PS2 was pretty much sitting at the bottom of the box they shipped it in with no padding underneath; it would have been very easy for it to get slammed around during shipping. However, there are no cosmetic defects on the PS2, and so far everything seems to run fine. 3 games (which I'll probably ebay) and a PS2 for around $258... I'm happy (although, that eb deal looks sweet too; I never checked it out, though).
