I decided to set up a table of shipping prices to North America for 4 of the major Hong Kong online retailers. Dollar Amounts are in Hong Kong Dollars.

Notes: Coolashop only allows a maximum of 12 DVDs per shipment. Hivizone only allows 20 DVDs per order for credit card orders.

I use XE.com for currency conversion. It works from the current exchange rate.

do i need to email dddhouse to get their special shipping prices for repeated customers? i didnt know there's such thing until now. i didnt get the special shipping price for my last order (second time ordering from dddhouse). i went there just now and tested out the order form again, it still charged me the regular shipping price. how does the site know who's the first time customer and who's not since you dont need to log in to make your order? any replies would be appreciated. thanx.

The site doesn't know, you have to choose the correct shipping option.

Use the last shipping option that appears at the bottom of the drop down menu under "Ship To." When you go to checkout the first "Ship to" option comes up as "please choose a country." The final option reads "(only for first order over 15 copies-(North America Only) and than repeat order no quantity restricted)." That's what you want if you are a repeat customer or a first-time customer over 15. It's not clear to me how or if this option applies to other countries.

My first order was 5 DVd's, I selected ship to north america and paid the higher shipping price. Second order i picked the repeat customer option and the lower shipping rates appeared in my order summary. My third order I forgot to use the repeat option and checked North America again (Doh!), thus paying the higher shipping rate (gee, i thought they'd figure it out for me) but i didn't make a fuss over the extra few bucks on a small order.

I'm sure they have your record on file to know that you are a repeat customer, but it looks like they don't check to see unless you choose that option. I only made my mistake once, maybe someone else has had different experiences.

(I'm still waiting for a coolashop order that may have been sent to the Ukraine instead of the USA because I inadvertently mis-scrolled the damn drop-down country selection menu.)
UPDATE: coolasia took 3 days to reply to an email inquiry sent two weeks after the order (and cc charge) date and said one of my items was unavailable and to select a replacement. Only used them for a VCD unavailable anywhere else, and probably will not go back after this order. And their site is sooooo slow!

Which store has the best overall prices? I do all of my business with HiviZone at the moment, but hear DDDHouse has slightly lower prices.

DDD house has the best overall prices. Some titles may be slightly cheaper at Hivizone after the 10% repeat customer discount.
