Seems pretty well played up that this closes, and has it ending as a trilogy? Think that's the case or if it makes enough moolah, of course they'd have to make more.

Wow, I'm so happy this reboot has been so good. This looks pretty good.

This is probably one of my most anticipated summer films. Loved the first two of the rebooted Apes films.

I've been kind of neutral about this rebooted series.
I loved the originals, and yes, I even loved Burton's take. What I liked most about all those was the space/time travel issues and the weird sci-fi ape culture, and those things aren't really in these new ones at all. I thought the first two (of the new series) were reasonably good movies, just not really my thing.

Looks intense, neat to see Woody maturing over the years with his roles.
I enjoy these new ones but this is a great point. They just don't have the "weird" vibe that come with late 60's/early 70's scifi.

Well, it was the 60s and 70s, weird came with that era in general, not just sci-fi.

Good point about the Sci Fi aspect. I guess I compare it to how these days Vampires and Werewolves in films are less about Curses and Demons and more about Biological changes due to infection or DNA. It's an updated take that, to me, fits our current world. The Apes are evolving. But instead of seeing it happen when someone arrives thousands of years later. We are seeing it happen in "real time" over a period of years.
Come to think of it, imagine what these apes will be like in a couple thousand years.

This seems to be kind of an odd series popularity wise. The first two films did surprisingly well at the BO, the critics and audience alike all seemed to give it mostly good reviews, yet no on really talks about thins series outside of threads like this. That's strange to me.
I loved the first two movies and even I rarely mention them.

'Rise' had some really gripping storytelling and drama in it. It's mostly downbeat and doesn't give you a lot of time to breath and feel happy. Plus, as an animal lover, there's something really fucked up about watching apes get killed. It's a relief when it's just the humans getting killed.

Reviews are well deserved - this is easily one of the best movies of 2017.

When the review embargo is lifted this early, the studio is excited about it.
Stuckmann gave it an A+, completely blown away.

I retract this statement. The movie keeps getting better with each viewing, just wish I hadn't had that moment spoiled, I wonder how I would've reacted to it in the film.... It's pretty cool Maurice tells her that her name is Nova with exactly the same enunciation and rhythm as Charlton Heston said it to Linda Harrison in Beneath...
