STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: "Core" 25th Anniversary - 9/29/17

The top-of-the-line Core “Super Deluxe Edition” ($80) will feature four CDs, a DVD, a vinyl record, and a photo book. There’s also a two-disc “Deluxe Version” that includes demo versions, and a simple, single-disc album remaster. If you’re not about to purchase a compact disc in 2017, all of the music from the Super Deluxe Edition will be available on streaming and download services.

If you are about to purchase a compact disc in 2017—four discs of Stone Temple Pilots, in fact—here’s the rundown: Disc one contains the remastered original album. Disc two contains previously unreleased demos and alternate versions. Disc three features 1993 live performances at England’s Reading Festival and California’s Castaic Lake Natural Amphitheater. Disc four is the band’s 1993 MTV Unplugged session. The DVD includes a surround sound mix of Core and the original music videos. You can peruse the full track list here.

All the Core anniversary editions are officially on sale September 29. The first 1,000 people to preorder the Super Deluxe Edition (or its even-more-deluxe “Bundle” incarnation) get a reproduction version of a U.K.-only 7″ release of “Plush.”

I normally hate these SD versions but this album is one that defined my youth and musical development. I may be in on this.

$13.95 for shipping. May wait until Amazon has it. I don't really need the Plush 7" single, I don't even have a record player, lol.

I'd be interested in just a vinyl set (LP & 7"), but $80 for all that other stuff? Not for me. So if anyone JUST wants the CDs and stuff, and doesn't mind giving up the vinyl, hit me up.

I just want the unplugged stuff. Do I need the set to get that?

Yeah, that's the only thing that I'm interested in.

I'm hoping the surround disc is not the same as the DVD-Audio release from years ago. I have a huge collection of surround music & that one is probably the worst I've heard.

Any chance this goes a lot cheaper eventually? What did the super deluxe special editions of Ten and Nevermind do?

I want this but can't really spend the money right now.

This is one of the lowest prices I've ever seen for a SDE.

Re: STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: "Core" 25th Anniversary - 9/29/17

It's currently $72.19 on Amazon.CA which for a Canadian release like this is a decent price (and basically equates to the $58usd), so I went ahead and preordered it. I've already got a music on vinyl pressing of Core but I want all the other stuff

I read the DVD-Audio disc included is the same shitty mix that was released when DVD-Audio first came out. It's basically just extended stereo.
It's too bad the MTV Unplugged disc isn't audio AND video.
This album definitely does not need a remaster IMO. It sounded excellent.

Damn - missed it. Just set up a camelcamelcamel alert in case it drops again.
