Based on the best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris (author of the novels that inspired "True Blood"), "Midnight, Texas" stars François Arnaud ("The Borgias") as Manfred, a charming, powerful psychic who can communicate with spirits and finds safety in Midnight surrounding himself with both human and supernatural allies. Midnight is also home to Bobo, proprietor of Midnight's local pawn shop (Dylan Bruce, "Orphan Black"); Fiji, a witch who owns the local wiccan shop (Parisa Fitz-Henley, "Luke Cage"); Olivia, a mysterious assassin with a weapon for every occasion (Arielle Kebbel, "The Vampire Diaries"); Joe, an angel who knows all of Midnight's secrets having been around for millennia (Jason Lewis, "Sex and the City"); Lemuel, a wise vampire with a long history in Midnight (Peter Mensah, "True Blood"); Creek, an aspiring writer with big dreams (Sarah Ramos, "Parenthood"); and Rev. Emilio Sheehan, who can't resist the pull of a full moon (Yul Vazquez, "Captain Phillips").

PRINCIPAL CAST INFORMATION:
· Arielle Kebbel as Olivia
· Dylan Bruce as Bobo
· Francois Arnaud as Manfred
· Jason Lewis as Joe
· Parisa Fitz-Henley as Fiji
· Peter Mensah as Lemuel
· Sarah Ramos as Creek
· Yul Vazquez as Emilio Sheehan

CREW INFORMATION:
· Charlaine Harris as BOOK
· David Janollari as EP
· Monica Owusu-Breen as CRTR/EP
· Niels Arden Oplev as EP/DIR (Pilot)
10 episode first season.

Niels Arden Oplev directing the pilot has me interested.

They crammed too much crap into the pilot episode. All of the characters seem like cliches drawn with very broad strokes.

Exactly. I stuck with it even though I knew after 15 minutes it was not my cup of tea. I was expecting something like Psych meets Supernatural. I'm not really into the fantasy soaps like "once upon a time" and the vampire ones. The hot assassin girl should have her own show.

I liked it...nice eye candy, okay special effects and yeah, anytime Arielle Kebbel is on TV works for me (the hot assassin woman). I liked her in American Pie Band Camp, and she was also in an okay Hallmark film.

The ratings were actually okay for a summer show, so we will at least get to see a full season. If the numbers hold next week I could see NBC giving us a second summer season in 2018. This show was much more enjoyable than Salvation on CBS.

I liked it.. I've always been into shows of this nature where it's some strange town with a twist to it. I'm not sure it's the best sign that I like everyone else in the cast more than I like the lead actor but whatever. It was only one ep and shows tend to get better character wise as they progress.

randomness. Really good TV level CGI for the bird man's wings only to turn into "errr what?" when his wings just become is arms.

For summertime viewing it was fun enough. It's not high quality TV or anything but I'm in for next week.

Just caught up on the second episode and I liked it better than the first. This is turning out to be a fun show to watch before the flood of new/returning shows hits the airwaves.

This is actually a really interesting show to premiere in the dead of summer. NBC should have pushed it back to the Fall and given it better promotion. The F/X aren't terrible and the cast works for the most part.

I could see it getting hokey down the road but right now the mystery of the town keeps things lively.

The ratings again held up okay so I think this show is going to pull a The Night Shift and gets a second season pick up to air next summer. Always nice when a summer show that could have easily been a one and done show turns out to be a pleasant surprise.

I'm liking this so far. Hopefully, a large cast of characters won't hurt this show like True Blood and other shows.

I'm in as long as we stick more to humor than horror. I don't really like horror shows.

Enjoyed the last episode. It was campy fun with the succubus. I hope the show gets renewed and is set up as a summer show.

I was telling my mom yesterday that this has an X-files feel to me. We see to have a monster of the week that feeds into an overall story-arc. It works for me but my mom says the humor in the books is missing from the series.

It's been gold by the standards of summer network programming. NBC should have pushed this back to the Fall.

Got American Ninja Warrior in the first half of Midnight's time slot. I hope that's only a local goof.

There was a Presidential address last night. I haven't watched yet but it sounds like my 1 hour pad worked out.

Been really enjoying this

If it upped the pace and action factor, would be ever better

I've been enjoying this show..I am also halfway through the second book, "Dayshift." I think they have been generally true to the book. Of course it helps when its author part of the production team.

I like the pace and how it gets to things quickly and not drag it out for half a season or longer.

I just spent all day binging this. I didn't think I'd like it, but I did. Too bad it might not be back, but I'm looking forward the finale on Monday.

If it has a complete story with no cliffhanger it still makes a good mini series.

Re: Midnight, Texas (NBC) -- based on book series by the author of True Blood

You got the feeling by the way the last two episodes finished the season that the writers didn't want to leave fans hanging, if the show doesn't get renewed.

Assassin chick seemed to flip-flop on becoming a vampire very quickly, after insisting she didn't want to become immortal. That whole arc with her and the vamp near the end gave me whiplash.
