Martin Landau dead at 89 (report)
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...source=twitter
Martin Landau, the all-purpose actor who showcased his versatility as a master of disguise on the Mission: Impossible TV series and as a broken-down Bela Lugosi in his Oscar-winning performance in Ed Wood, has died. He was 89.
TMZ is reporting that Landau, who shot to fame by playing a homosexual henchman in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 classic North by Northwest, died Saturday of "unexpected complications" after a brief stay at UCLA Medical Center.
Great, GREAT actor.

I started a thread at the same time.
Mods...feel free to delete or merge.
Loved his acting. A GREAT actor. Leonard in North by Northwest was a fantastic part, and..of course....Bela.

Sad to hear. He was also amazing in Crimes and Misdemeanors (an Oscar-nominated performance in a largely forgotten Woody Allen masterpiece).

Fine actor. RIP.
It's funny, but the first thing I thought of was his cringy interview with Kennedy (the MTV VJ) on the red carpet of the Mission: Impossible movie premiere. He seemed very resentful that she wasn't aware he had starred in the original show, or the fact that it had ever been a TV series to begin with.

I had just watched him recently in Meteor from 1979. He was doing the role sans toupee and his hair on top was quite thin. At the time, only ten years removed from Mission: Impossible and a couple years removed from Space: 1999, he looked really old to me. And that was nearly 40 years ago!
I kept thinking he must not be long for this earth at this point.
As a kid, he was one of those actors I never really warmed up to- but I did when I got to be an older teen/adult. I really enjoy his performances, although there is a bit of the ShatnerEgo® Ham in him at times. He was excellent in Crimes & Misdemeanors though- one of my favorite films.

89 years old? He definitely lived a full life and he leaves behind a lot of great performances.
But let's not forget his crowning achievement - his performance as the evil J.J. Pierson in The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island!

He gave a great performance in Rounders as the college professor who bails Matt Damon out of his gambling trouble. One of those great actors who could say a lot with just with a facial expression.

He was cool in X-Files: Fight the Future.
I remember his "feud" with Kennedy from MTV years ago. I guess he was in a bad mood and was an asshole to her, because she didn't know or understand some reference he had made and he got pissed.
