I usually dislike the Mondo stuff, but that one looks good.

I'm going on Saturday and really getting hyped for it. For all the Superhero fatigue talk, it's been impressive that we've had 4 VERY good if not excellent movies come out this year already. Logan, Guardians 2, Wonder Woman, and now Spider-Man Homecoming. Heck, maybe 5 counting Lego Batman.

Not sure if seeing tonight, Saturday or Sunday. A LOT of my comic nerd friends went last night and went crazy over it. Sounds like some solid entertainment and nice departure from the usually MCU style.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Watts, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Saw it last night, and I would put it right up there with the original with Tobey. A good continuation of Civil War (Peters personal video was hysterical) and some good call backs to the first Avengers.

Keaton did a great job. Did not chew up the scenery, took it seriously, and had better motivation than most recent villains.

2 after credit scenes:

Spoiler:
1 mid way, Keaton and Scorpion meet in prison, scorpion says he has some friends on the outside. Sinister 6?

End credits, Cap doing a PSA about patience and sometimes waiting has little payoff. Cute, but got a groan from the audience.

I can get behind that, I dug the high school stuff in Raimi's Spiderman but hated everything about the villain.

Spoiler:
I didn't get the impression that Scorpion's friends on the outside were the important takeaway from that scene, and personally, I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear from them again.

The takeaway from this scene is that Toombs protected Peter's identity when confronted about it

Just saw it, very solid, enjoyed it with my daughters. Good spidey, good idea rebooting back to a young peter parker. Didn't love all the iron man stuff, but I guess that comes with the territory of bringing this back to the marvel universe.

Easily better than the last two Spidey attempts. For most people, this will likely be on par with the first two Raimi films, but (At the moment) I loved this more than those. Very hard to wipe the smile off my face during this film. Everything involving involving the modified suit was pure gold. From the alone-time spent with "Karen" (My favorite sequence of the movie) to the voice interrogation. It was nice to see Garcelle Beauvais pop up! (Add her to the milf-club with Marisa)

I was kinda pissed, but my crowd loved it. They Laughed and applauded afterwards, but that might have been meant for the entire film overall. LOVED the Blitzkrieg Bop credits!!!

I liked it. They've been saying in the marketing that this had more in common with a John Hughes high school comedy than most of it's brethren in the MCU, and I took it as a nod to Ferris Bueller, which had a similar nothing happening here tag.

Everyone at my theater knew there was a 2nd post credit scene at the end of the credits, but the stupid projectionist switched the audio to First Look so we did not get to hear what was said. We got vouchers afterwards to use for any movie including XD,but I'm not sure I will have another opportunity to see this again.

BTW, loved it. And that training montage (if you can even call it that) with Karen is easily the best part of the movie. Also loved the confrontation in the car with Keaton. very intense.

Hopefully she'll keep making movies and become the US version of Helen Mirren.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Watts, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Saw it today and really enjoyed it.. Holland is the best Spidey so far.. Keaton as the Vulture was excellent.. Action and story was very well done.. Glad to see the series back on track. I would say this holds top spot along with Spiderman 2, closely followed by the first movie. So looks lije Scorpion is a no brainer for the next movie and i am veey happy for that. Spidey has tonnes of bad guys that deserve tine in the limelight. I gave it a 4.

Oh, and it had a real 80s vibe.. Only downside... zandaya(?). Mismatched, but second movie will glam her up for sure.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Watts, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Caught this today. Best Spider-Man movie since the second one in '04, and probably the most fun MCU movie since the original Iron Man. I have always felt for a Spider-Man movie to be done correctly, it needed to take place in an already established Marvel Universe. This one made good use of the existing world. While some may not like that it's more of a comedy with action sequences (that's how I saw it), I found the whole John Hughes/action blend appealing. Holland is the first actor to actually nail both Parker and Spider-Man. Maguire was better as Parker, and Garfield was better as Spider-Man in past entries. Hope to see more of this Spidey in the future.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Watts, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

This was a lot of fun. Looked great in IMAX. Easily one of Marvel's best scores, too.

The Ferris Buller backyard bit was good... until they showed the clip. Way to ruin a subtle homage.

Keaton finally provided a good villain. Still a bit one-note, but more well-rounded than 95% of what we've seen so far in the MCU.

Played hooky from work today to see this, and was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was. I had no real plans to see it, but when the wife texts and says "work sucks, lets go see a movie" it was hard to not choose this one. Keaton was great, Holland was great, loved the opening sequence.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (Watts, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Loved it. Mostly because they finally got Peter right. Probably the best version of Parker/Spiderman yet. The part where he's eating the churro with his mask up to his nose leaving a message for Happy was quintessential Peter. I really liked how they made May kinda fun-loving/goofy. Keaton was great, and I liked that they didn't make him "evil". The entire cast was fantastic, although Ned was annoying me a few times. But I think MJ was my favorite... "Aren't you gonna step inside?" "I'd rather not celebrate a place built by slaves."
And she cleans up well...
Spoiler:

And I can't believe this movie had an invisible jet and Wonder Woman didn't!

Can't wait for the next one!
