Another attempt to make a hero out of a man who was openly a thug and genuinely not a good person.

Doesn't look like he's made out to be a hero from the trailer. The actor playing him has his mannerisms down, though.
I heard that the Biggie movie, Notorious, made him look like a hero, too. When I finally saw it, I came away thinking, "wow, he was scum." They showed him beating girlfriends, etc. Puffy, on the other hand, clearly threw his executive producer weight around...

I don't see how they are trying to make him out as a "hero" as you stated but he was and still certainly is an important voice for the youth and some adults out there that go through things that you obviously do not. If you don't like rap or hip hop then how Tupac is portrayed in this film or any other is no real concern to you. However, if you ask almost any emcee out there that is worth two shits, Tupac's name will always be on the list as one of the best to ever do it.

Biggest mistake Tupac ever made was signing with Death Row records even though he became a huge star after doing it.

You know it's an "urban" film because they used a 'Z' instead of an 'S' in the title. That makes it street as a motherfucker, yo!

He's just a music legend in hip-hop/rap. A huge one too that touched many lives. His music still gets played today and many more years to come.

Btw I dig the trailer.

I didn't say superhero. You do know there is a difference right?

This looks good, especially if you're a big 2pac fan, which I am. The dude looks just like him. I assume we'll get some more unreleased music on the soundtrack or possibly a "new" unreleased album.
As for him signing to Death Row, he was already a big deal. But he was in prison, and Suge Knight paid his $1.4 million to get him out, with the stipulation that he sign with the label.
Sadly, it ended up getting him murdered. I'm glad Dre & Snoop got out of there fairly quickly, too.

Looks good but I think the actor from Notorious (Anthony Mackie?) was a better fit, based on the previews of this. I don't think this will have nearly the emotional impact of Notorious either. I still get chills at the end when they're showing the procession with Big's mother narrating.

The guy who plays Tupac is a dead ringer. It looks good, but I don't think it's gonna be another Straight Out of Compton...

Even though I think you're right, I find it odd this movie doesn't have the hype Straight Outta Compton had. Maybe because of my age group (early 30s), I feel like people care more about 2pac than NWA as a whole.

To be truthful I didn't care for NWA or knew much about them, but Compton was a great story and good actors who fit the parts. Really enjoyed it...

Dr. Dre/Beats By Dre, Ice Cube, and Jimmy Iovine/Interscope all had some kind of interest or investment in it so they pushed it hard.
I don't think there's any serious financial backing here, like SOC had.

Anybody see this? If so, how was it? I've been waiting for it for a long time, but the reviews aren't very good.
I would still think it should do big box office.

The first two-thirds are very well paced and contain the best acting. It's just that The whole "Death Row" section gets overlong and flat. What I mostly couldn't believe was after (Surprisingly) setting up Biggie's role well, they don't even mention his death!!
