Dan Brown - "Origin" (Robert Langdon Series) October 3, 2017

"In keeping with his trademark style, Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code and Inferno, interweaves codes, science, religion, history, art, and architecture into this new novel. Origin thrusts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon into the dangerous intersection of humankind’s two most enduring questions, and the earthshaking discovery that will answer them."

It's Robert Langdon which means I'll be reading it. Hopefully he takes him in another direction. As much as I like Langdon going all over Europe, I think it's time he does something different. Of course The Lost Symbol brought him to the US, and look how that turned out.

yeah I'll read it but not hope for too much. I did like the Dante's Inferno book better than the Lost Symbol

When reading Inferno, i had fun following the story along on Google Earth. I also would not have remembered LS if it wasnt mentioned earlier

I'll read any Dan Brown book, though I was hoping for a non-Robert Langdon novel. I wish Brown would mix it up, as I liked Deception Point a lot.

But I'll definitely still read Origin.

I was lucky enough to read it while in Florence. Read at a furious pace, then went to the sites where the action took place. That was fun.

Inferno was really, really bad. That being said Dan has built up enough good will with that series that I'll still bite on this one. Fingers crossed.

Has anyone read through this yet? Impressions? I just started it today at lunch; I only had time for the prologue and first few chapters.

I can't get enthused about it, after terrible Lost Symbol and mediocre Inferno, but maybe I'll put it on hold at the library and give him one more try.

I’m wrapping up American Gods, so I’ll probably start it this weekend.

I’m waiting for reviews before I decide whether to bother. I loved Angels & Demons and DaVinci Code, but HATED Lost Symbol. Never bothered with Inferno. Was it a return to form at all?

IMO, Inferno was a step up from LS. And if you've watched the movie already, the book ends differently.

Origins was pretty good. i liked learning about Spain's history. I found it at least on the same level as Inferno. Typical Dan Brown books; not great literature but can be a fun read.

Agreed. I really liked Origin, probably my favorite book of Brown's to date. Definitely a typical Brown book for sure, and there were some surprises, but I figured out the ending fairly early. Definitely worth a read IMO.

BTW, this would fit right in as a Black Mirror episode.

I still need to read this, I've read all his other books to date and have enjoyed them except for probably Lost Symbol.

I need to pick it back up. Got about 40% in (per my Kindle) and lost interest. Same formula as all his other books, from what I read.
