The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros (MTV) -- premieres 5/16/17
They just announced a new six week special The Challenge: Champs vs Pros. 10 challenge favorites versus 10 pro athletes. More information here: http://www.mtv.com/news/3004474/chal...hamps-vs-pros/
Victor Cruz will host. Each episode will focus on a different strength (agility, ingenuity, brawn, brains, endurance and guts). Every week, the winning team’s captain will choose one member of their team to go into the elimination round, and the rest of the team will vote in their opponent. The losing team’s captain is automatically sent into elimination, and their team will also nominate their opponent. The final male and female competitors of the season will endure the ultimate test, showcasing each strength in one heart-pounding race for the chance to win $50,000 for their favorite charity.
The champs will be announced after the finale of The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions.

Tia Blanco: Professional Surfer
Louise Hazel: Olympian & Fitness Expert
Lindsey Jacobellis: Professional Snowboarder

Louie Vito: Professional Snowboarder & Olympian

Ah... that explains all the false rumors I was hearing about Victor Cruz replacing TJ Lavin as host.

I'm not all that excited about this but I can say with 100% certainty that I will watch it. Hopefully they'll get a top notch group of Champs and I want to see CT fight CM Punk.

Interesting, the only pros I know are Lolo Jones, Merriman, and Punk. What can I say, I'm a whore for these Challenge shows though so i'll watch.

Wimbley is crazy athletic. He ran the Ninja Warrior Regional course and finished it, but this was back when they only took 15 finalists in each region no matter if you finish the course or not and he had the slowest time and didn't advance.

Well there are two snowboarders - Jacobellis and Vito - thats close to skateboarding.
Speaking of Jacobellis - guess this confirms that Jonny Bananas will be one of the champs as they are still dating.
Edit - Opps! Wrong Snowboarder! - Hannah Teter is dating Bananas. Thanks IWhy? for the correction.
I still be correct though - Bananas should still be one of the champs - he never misses a challenge it seems.
Knows - Lindsey Jacobellis: Professional Snowboarder. Lolo Jones: Olympic Hurdler, Bobsledder & World Champion. Candice Wiggins: Former WNBA Athlete.
Shawne Merriman: Retired NFL Linebacker. CM Punk: UFC Fighter. Louie Vito: Professional Snowboarder & Olympian.
Don't know - Tia Blanco: Professional Surfer. Louise Hazel: Olympian & Fitness Expert. Gus Kenworthy: Professional Skier & Olympic Medalist. Kamerion Wimbley: Retired NFL Star.
I'll be watching - I'm a sucker for these type of shows.
CM Punk part of MTV's 'The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros' cast - Joseph Currier - Figure4WrestlingOnline/WrestlingObserver Website -
CM Punk is returning to television, but it won't be in a professional wrestling ring or the UFC Octagon.
MTV announced today that Punk would be part of the cast for "The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros." The show is a six-week special and will begin airing on May 16th.
It features 10 athletes competing against 10 winners of the long-running series. They will be competing for a $50,000 prize that goes towards a charity of their choosing.
Punk is billed as a UFC fighter in the cast listing. Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz will host the show.
Other than Punk, the most notable athletes on the show are former NFL player Shawne Merriman and Olympian Lolo Jones.
Punk and Merriman haven't had the best relationship in the past, with them exchanging tweets when Punk accused Merriman of striking out when trying to hit on women in WWE.
Merriman was also critical of Punk prior to his UFC debut, though they followed each other on Twitter recently.
After appearing on the Wrestlemania 30 Pre-Show - Merriman tried wrestling with WWE but nothing permanent ever came to fruition.

Is it just the pros (if they ultimately win) who are playing for charity or the champs as well?
I'm all for being charitable, but the champs are just regular folks and $50K would be a lot of money for them.

I can't remember Veronica off the top of my head, but the women are disappointing imo. I didn't even remember Ashley K on this last challenge and she wasn't impressive at all and I'm so sick of Camila. The other Ashley was annoying for pretty much the entire season and, while I appreciated how hard she competed in the final without whining, it was a fluke that she won.
The "best" women, other than CM don't seem to hang around as long as the "best" men. I still miss Ev and Paula, so maybe my age is showing.

Veronica is a legend of these shows but her time was like The Miz-Coral era.I excpect her to be one of the first boots even if she is Beastmode for her age she was a pretty tiny girl.

Not a Veronica thread without
so hot.
That said I would rather have seen them bring back Susie or Sarah.

I am pretty sure we'll never see Susie or Sarah back. They've both trashed the show production pretty hard and consistently, of course they never seemed to have a problem participating in the ugliness when it made them money and somewhat famous.
I'd love a surprise Ev return one day but it will never happen.

This would have been a good one for Mizanin to come back and do, but I'm sure he was pretty busy with his day job at the time. Bringing his wife on with him has brought about about a career resurgence for his wrestling character.

I came in to the show really liking Lolo Jones, but boy does she seem like a bitch already. Based on the preview for the rest of the season, seems like she keeps it up.
Not surprised to see Veronica gone so soon, although i'm a little disappointed.
