Wonder Wheel (2017, D: Woody Allen) -- S: Winslet, Belushi, Timberlake, Temple
Woody Allen’s latest film, “Cafe Society,” hasn’t hit theaters yet, but the filmmaker is already moving on to his next project.
Sources tell Variety that Kate Winslet is in final negotiations to star in Allen’s next movie, which will shoot this fall.
Allen is writing, directing and producing the untitled pic, and like all his recent films, plot details are being heavily guarded.
As usual, Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson will produce. The film hasn’t found a distributor yet, although Amazon seems to be a likely destination, given Allen’s recent relationship with the studio.
Though Winslet’s career has spanned more than two decades, the actress has never worked with the auteur prior to this pic.
Winslet is coming off her Oscar-nominated role in “Steve Jobs” and was also recently seen in Open Road’s crime drama “Triple Nine.” She just wrapped production on New Line’s “Collateral Beauty” opposite Will Smith and recently boarded the Fox drama “The Mountain Between Us,” co-starring Idris Elba.
She is repped by CAA and United Agents.
Allen’s “Cafe Society,” starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, bowed at the Cannes Film Festival and opens in theaters on July 16.

EXCLUSIVE: James Belushi has been set to join Kate Winslet to star in the ensemble of the next untitled film written and directed by Woody Allen. As usual, Allen keeps the details under wraps, but the project is a period drama set in the late ’50s and he will shoot it in New York. Allen is producing with Letty Aronson and Edward Walson.
Allen hasn’t yet set a distributor; after a long run with Sony Pictures Classics, he aligned with Amazon Studios for his most recent pic, Cafe Society, which opened the Cannes Film Festival. Lionsgate releases the film July 15.
Belushi is repped by ICM Partners and Brillstein Entertainment.

Woody Allen has set his cast for his next movie, which will feature Justin Timberlake and Juno Temple in supporting roles.
Kate Winslet already boarded the project last month, and Jim Belushi recently signed on to star.
The film will mark the first collaboration between singer-actor Timberlake, best known on the film side for his turns in The Social Network and Inside Llewyn Davis, and director Allen. The move is similar to Allen casting music star Miley Cyrus to topline his first-ever television project — an untitled six-episode series he wrote and directed for Amazon. (Allen and Elaine May also star.)
The new film is produced by long-time collaborator Letty Aronson, Erika Aronson and Edward Walson. It begins shooting in the fall in New York. As usual, the project is shrouded in secrecy, and film's title and plot details are being kept under wraps.
Though the official cast announcement made no mention of a distributor, sources say Amazon already is committed. Amazon is releasing Allen's latest, Cafe Society, with Lionsgate. That film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and will open theatrically in the U.S. on July 15 via Lionsgate and Amazon, before moving to Amazon's Prime streaming service.
Allen is known for attracting high-end talent to his ensemble films despite their relatively small budgets. Cafe Society stars Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively and Steve Carell. He is currently in postproduction on the Amazon series.
Temple, whose recent credits include Black Mass, had a breakout performance on the HBO series Vinyl. However, that series was recently canceled, with the network scrapping plans for a second season. She is repped by UTA, Troika and attorney James Feldman.
Timblerlake introduced his next film, Trolls, at Cannes. He is the voice star alongside Anna Kendrick. He is handled by WME, LBI Entertainment and attorney P.J. Shapiro.

As always with every new release from Allen, I'll be forking over my hard-earned cabbage to enjoy his brand of neurosis. God knows that the number of new titles he's got time left to write and put to film is very finite.

The film takes place in the 1950's Coney Island. As far as I know it filmed entirely around the Brooklyn area.

that looked real good and so different for him. but, he is an enigma. i love him getting these guys that haven't been around so much in the movies like Belushi. seems ballsy, but i know he can pull it off...
any idea how fast this will be on Amazon Prime streaming?

This was definitely mid to lower tier Woody Allen. Themes and characters he's done plenty of times before... but just didn't work very well here.
