IF you like horror, you should check out Cutter's 'The Troop'...

I would have liked a deeper look at how the ringworld was built, or the innerworkings, but it's devolving into how many people can do "risathra" as possible.

The premise was interesting: take a 21st Century West Virginia small town and mysteriously drop it into the middle of the Holy Roman Empire during the Thirty Years War, immediately creating an alternate timeline.

It never fulfilled the promise of the premise. At least, not enough to keep me reading.
I agree, and it gets worse as the series goes on. I think I made it though the 3rd book, and it ends up being more political than exploring how people from the future adapt to the past.

Finished Joe Haldeman's Mind Bridge, will probably start Guardian today. I have no idea which of his books are considered good or bad. I'll read them all and figure it out, haha

I really like Brad Parks series of books about journalist Carter Ross. Fun mysteries with a lot of humor.

His new book is fairly different. Say Nothing is a straight thriller with very little humor. I liked Say Nothing. However, I hope he still does some Carter Ross books in the future.

I'm liking it quite a bit so far.

Yep. Loving the shifting narrators and perspectives, the time jumps. A lot going on, and mysteries under the surface, but strong characters make it easy to follow. Very interesting.
