What is the most you'd pay for a game?
I finished Zelda tonight. My celebration was immediately met by sadness. I won, but the amazing journey was over.
I asked myself what it was worth. How much would I pay for a game this good. My honest answer is: for the system and game I'd pay $1,000.
This game was that good. I don't think I'd go more than that though.

Most I ever paid was $65 for Soul Blazer (SNES) but that was using trade-in $$$ I got at The Exchange for trading in a bunch of stuff I didn't want. Since I only have SNES and PSOne consoles, most I'd pay out of pocket would probably be about $30. I know, I'm a cheap bastard...

I usually just pay the retail price. $59.99 or sometimes a little less. I guess I'm ok with it, but as my backlog continues to grow, the more I think I can wait. Usually don't though

Nowadays, 20%+ off retail.
In the past I didn't mind dropping coin on $100 limited editions and the most would be the $150 Halo 3 helmet and the $150 Borderlands loot crate. Most of the time the value just isn't there anymore. The extras they pack in and goofy digital skins and whatnot aren't worth shit, usually a couple bucks at most.
I want to say the last limited edition I bought was Destiny and I hated that game so that was a bust. I will be considering the Middle Earth: Shadow of War special edition though.

I can be more clear.
If Nintendo launched a system with Zelda, or Mario, or Metroid, etc as a pack-in, what would you be willing to pay?
After playing Zelda on Switch my number is $1,000.

Rarely will I pay $60 nowadays.
If I'm going to pick up a brand spanking new PS4 or XBox One game, I will try to wait for a sale at around $40 tops.
Digital games, I only get if it's really cheap. I will never spend more than $15 on a digital game.

Retail - 20%... but I did once pay $100 for a CoD game (digital edition, I got conned lol).

And speaking even more realistically, I'd never pay more than full retail for a single game. And that's only for the rare times where I'm so into the game that I need to buy it as soon as it hits the shelves (hell, in most cases you can get it for less than retail right away). Most of the time I wait for deep discounts, it's why I'm always a few months/years behind with my games.

I'd never buy a console for a single game. $50 a game is probably my max, but that would have to be some sort of limited collector's edition with cool bonuses and/or be a set of multiple games. Normally I wait for $15 or less.

Re: What is the most you'd pay for a game?
Probably $100 for just a game. I'm thinking if there was some amazing game I really wanted that only came out in another region and I knew it would never be released here, how much would I pay to import it and that's probably the upper limit. Granted, that hasn't happened.
The most I've paid for a game if you include add-ons would be Lego Dimensions. I kind of shrugged that whole thing off until Best Buy had a couple stacking deals on it this past holiday season. I now have 95% of what's been released and have probably spent around $300 on it all, though a good chunk of that was gift cards, trade in credit or RZ certs.
Typically, if it's something I think I'll play soon, I pay $48 (with GCU) at Best Buy. And then around Black Friday, I'll pick up 15-20 games for $10 - $20 each. This keeps a pretty healthy pile of shame that I can pick through over the course of the year.

The only games I've paid street-day retail $60 for is Uncharted 2 and 3.
I'll probably buy the Shadow of Mordor sequel on street day and may go up to $100 for the deluxe edition.

I wouldn't pay more than retail $60 for a game, and I wouldn't buy a system for a single game for any cost.

For a game, probably the $60 retail price if for some reason I couldn't get any discounts like with Amazon Prime.
If we're including consoles, $500 would be my limit too.

Maybe $20 max. I'm cheap as can be. The only title I can think of, and it's still a long ways away, that I'd pay close to full price for would be the sequel to Last of Us.
Most of the games I play are PS+ or Games with Gold 'freebies.'
I've logged about 60 hours playing World of Tanks in the last few months. Total cost to me: $0.

Re: What is the most you'd pay for a game?
I'm in the "about 20% off retail" camp.
Though I rarely pay even that much. Nickel and dime DLC has pretty much trained me to avoid buying games until all the DLC has been released. And by that time, the game is pretty cheap. If companies discounted downloadable DLC more I'd probably buy games new a lot more. But I guess their marketing research doesn't support that, even though it would get more of my money.

$47 is the most I'll pay right now. I got the Zelda CE for $80 + tax but I assign value to the case and junk. Switch and all the accessories and Zelda and Fast RMX set me back around $600 but I like/believe in the system.

I bought the PS4 specifically for Fallout 4. But I knew I would eventually get more games and use out of it.

I wait for 99% of games to hit that $20 price point and then I buy them. If I can get them around $15, even better. That's the great thing about having a backlog of like 60 games going back to the Ps3/360 lol.
The only times I will buy day 1 at full retail would be for the Arkham games, Rockstar games, or the occasional survival horror game if it looks interesting.

Re: What is the most you'd pay for a game?
And that was 10 years ago. As the question stands, as of now the most I'd pay is 20% off retail. Even back then I averaged 50% off MS point cards AND waited for RB DLC sales, so every track was essentially 50-70% off.
