"TAKEN"

"PILOT" ORIGINAL

02/27/2017 (10:00PM - 11:00PM) (Monday) : SERIES PREMIERE - The murder of Bryan Mills' (Clive Standen) sister launches him into a dangerous mission for revenge against cartel boss Carlos Mejia (Louis Ferreira). A secret US intelligence agency, led by Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals), covertly uses Bryan as bait to capture Mejia, and in the end recruits Bryan to become a part of their team. Also starring Gaius Charles (John), Brooklyn Sudano (Asha Flynn), Monique Gabriela Curnen (Becca Vlasik), Michael Irby (Scott), Jose Pablo Cantillo (Dave) and James Landry Hébert (Rem). TV-14 L, V

From Executive Producer Luc Besson ("Taken," "The Fifth Element") comes a modern-day, edge-of-your-seat thriller that follows the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen, "Vikings") as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. In 30 years, this character is destined to become the Bryan Mills that we've come to love from the "Taken" films.

10 episode 1st season

Prequel to the Taken movies. Clive Standen is from Vikings and he is portraying Bryan Mills in his 30's.

I thought it was pretty good too. Standen worked as a young Mills. He was pretty badass in the action scenes.

I laughed at the throwaway reference to the movies when his traitor friend said Don't ever have kids, especially a daughter.

When Mills sister was killed on the train, I thought she died from a stray bullet. Didn't suspect that she was murdered by the drug dealer.

I tuned in late, just as the baddies were coming to the house. It wasn't bad. I'm going to have to OnDemand the episode again to see what I missed. Not sure if she's had work done but Jennifer Beales looked mighty fine.

It was a strong pilot, but NBC has a habit of delivering stronger action pilots than actual shows.

I was bewildered while watching how this show was related to Taken, only to find out here it's a prequel.

It's on NBC's site.

http://www.nbc.com/taken?nbc=1

Might already be on the NBC app for the Roku if you have one.

NBC on demand for Directv is kind of slow. I noticed that Blindspot takes 2-3 days after it airs.

Why would that bewilder you?

I thought this was really good. I'm nervous though that it's in the 10PM Monday death slot.

I'll probably stick with this since it is only 10 episodes. Mondays are currently light.

Just watched episode 1. Was surprisingly good and well done. IIRC this got delayed so I wasn't expecting much. Maybe I am misremembering. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and will keep watching.

Re: Taken (S1E02) -- "Ready" -- 3/6/17

Cool episode. Mills was pretty badass. The hand to hand combat scene in the garage and also taking out the 2 assassins in the hospital.

It was mostly a self contained mission of the week, but I thought it was a good follow up to the Pilot. Had some good action.

Good action and nice pacing. Hopefully, we'll see Sam (the trusted friend from the Taken movies) sometime in the future.

Damn this show is good. Love the action. Looks like ratings are somewhat solid. Hope it keeps up. I am enjoying it.

Did they recast the Carlos Mejia guy? Doesn't look like the same person.

According to the cast list on IMDB, it was indeed a different actor.

Probably the actor who played him in the Pilot wasn't available when it went to series and filmed months later.

Shit, that's why I was confused about Meija. I didn't recognize the prisoner in the shipping container, but I knew I followed the Meija plot properly. I was
beginning to think I missed something from the Pilot.

Re: Taken (S1E03) -- "Off Side" -- 3/13/17

So-So episode. Didn't like it as much as the 1st 2.

I do like Brooklyn Sudano. She's quite attractive and they're obviously setting her up as Mills love interest. I have to wonder if they will eventually set up Mills meeting Lenore if this gets another season.

I guess Christina is going to hide from the team and her boyfriend that she has a brain tumor.

Agreed, just an ok episode. But I'm still enjoying this show.

I thought the corner apartment was going to be used for torture, instead of a sniper's nest.

Re: Taken (NBC) -- based on the film -- Season 1 Thread -- 2/27/17

Pretty good episode.

I'm kind of surprised with his kill count, since it's network tv I figured he'd just be knocking everyone out and maybe kill the central bad guy.
