Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

This week, Target is having buy 2 get 1 free on movies (as well as board games, puzzles and books). It's online and in-store and does apply for some pre-orders, although I don't think any with the $5 gift card offer.

I got Return of the Living Dead 3 (24.99), Waxwork 1/2 (26.99) and Pieces (25.89) for for about 17.63 each, which as far as I can tell has been the cheapest price for each.

Supposedly the Groupon gift card works with this and this is a good deal to buy Criterion films, if you'd like.

I can't believe the lack of activity in this thread. Amazing deals on Warner Archive multi-disk sets, Lionsgate/Vestron blus, Criterion, Flicker Alley... Pre-orders too.

Also, no need to place separate orders. If you put, for example, 6 items in your cart, it won't take off the 2 lowest priced items. It will take off the 3rd and 6th priced items.

That's not true, at least in my case. I tried putting six items in the cart a couple different ways and it's always taking off the two lowest priced items.

An overlooked area of deals in this sale are anime releases. Target does carry some Funimation and other anime sets.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

What a great, totally unexpected deal- especially when used in conjunction with the Groupon GC offer.

Ended up getting

Doctor Strange 3D
Edge Of Seventeen
Arrival

all for $45 shipped (and that includes nearly 9% sales tax).

I need to go back later and scope out some Scream Factory and others that I've been avoiding at their current price points. I'm thinking I goofed jumping on the last DD coupon- as just about all those things I ordered there would likely be much cheaper with this deal.

Grabbed Parents, Lair of the White Worm, and Blood Diner for $58 and change. Not a bad deal at all.

It's an awesome deal, no doubt. I was a little disappointed that some of what I tried to get was unavailable (like Wait Until Dark or the Scream Factory SE of The Thing), and the deal didn't apply to others (the Vestron release of The Gate, particularly).

Too bad Rogue One doesn't qualify, was looking to knock out some Disney titles instead of waiting to do a enrollment with DMC

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

I'm trying to be very selective nowadays, so I can cancel my previous order for Dr Strange 3D, and get in on this deal with La La Land 4K, and then I need another title, hopefully in 4K. Pacific Rim 4K is a whopping $45, I could get Sully since I've only rented the blu. The ones that I want don't qualify like Moana 3D and Rogue One since they have the $5 off with them. I think I'll get Hidden Figures 4K.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

Thanks for the post. I bought two Shout titles, the double feature of "Neanderthal Man" / "The Beast of Hollow Mountain", and "The Brain that Wouldn't Die", along with Kino's "Gold". It's really hard getting Shout titles for under $13 (or thereabouts with sales tax), and an average of $13.56 per disk is damned good.

I was going to buy more Kino titles until I realized that Jet.com's ongoing 15% discount sale saved me a couple additional dollars. Needed to be very selective in my choices, though, as the prices are all over the place.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

I'm debating placing a second order because there are definitely a lot of good deals to be had. With my first order, I went with all 3D titles: Dr. Strange, the newest Star Trek and Force Awakens.

This thread should be a great one for ideas. I've already seen people post some good titles I hadn't thought about.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

Excellent deal, I haven't placed an order but I am leaning towards filling out my DC TV Animation wants but am having a hard time.

Currently my money (outside of a few digital purchases here and there) is going towards my movie room upstairs for hardware, cables and the like. I would love to do a "4k" type order too with both of the Maze Runners but $20 a title just doesn't quite do it for me. (My 4k non steelbook buys to this point have been limited to what I can get for under $15). Decisions, decisions.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

For order #1 I went with:

The Land Before Time
One Million Years B.C.
Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid

Just over $41 shipped.

I'm eying a 2nd with Shout's double feature Neanderthal Man/The Beast of Hollow Mountain as the cornerstone but can't decide on other titles to pair. I'm trying to stick with "critical" upgrades or stuff I don't already own on DVD. It's rather tough as their prices mostly defy logic.

Just a heads up, Arrival has a cartwheel for instore that also stacks. So today I picked up Arrival, The Martian Extended Edition, and Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. I even got them to price match Best Buy on Martian. Total came to $35.98.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

I'd love to see what everyone else is ordering to maximize this. I'm looking at Doctor Strange, but not sure what else to get that's worthwhile. Zero interest in 3D, bummed something like Moana apparently wouldn't work because of the gift card offer.

Tempted to preemptively get some UHD titles knowing i'd likely get a player by the end of the year.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

Personally I ordered 3 copies of the 2D Doctor Strange BD exclusive. Nothing else was the same price, or something I figured would drop in price fast. If the offer included those gift card deal pre-orders, then I would have a couple more orders by now.

I assume this works on their $5 Blu-rays also? I just bought Captain Phillips there last night so I might go back and see if there was anything else for $5 worth getting free with it.

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

My problems are, the third Blu-ray I want is a lot cheaper in other stores. There are some other Blu-rays I would like, but they're unavailable at Target. Sure, I'd get the third for free, but I don't really feel like I'm saving money since it's a lot cheaper at Amazon or Best Buy. #firstworldproblems

re: Target buy-2-get-1-free mega-thread

So, I just happened to order three Blu-rays online on Friday. Any chance customer service will give me a price adjustment or will I have to return & rebuy?

If you paid with a debit or credit card, you can go to target.com and ask a chat representative to see what they can do for you.
