Hard to believe this show is now in season 7. Not the smartest cop show on TV (Yes, that's an understatement), but for the most part it's still a fun Friday night show.

I don't watch this show, but happened to see the beginning of this ep. Whew boy did they over reach with that cg original 5-0. Have they done that before, or was this just a stunt for the premiere? My mother and I were like why does that guy look so creepy until we realized it was a CG thing.

Yeah, that CGI was pretty bad. Very uncanny valley.

And no, I don't ever recall them doing something like that before.

Oh I think we all know what happened. Some network bigwig watched one of the modern CGI character driven movies and got totally sold on the idea of doing a CGI character throw back. "Make it happen!!"

so this lame idea from the top down kept getting the green light right up to the point where someone check into the cost and then was straight up Mr Burns "Then get me his non-union Mexican equivalent!".

It's sort of like how on tv shows that bad guys tend to now drive cheaper and cheaper cars if they are going to end up flipping them over. "Quick, hop into my 1997 Ford Probe!! The cops are coming!

edit: vidcap for those that might of missed the ep. Honestly, not that bad as a still frame, really bad in motion.

It's like O'Laughlin was talking to a video game character. Why didn't they scrap it when they saw how bad the final product was? Geez!

I did enjoy the foot chase though.

Wow, that Jack Lord "cameo" was creepy.

The voice actor was pretty spot on, but he looked like a character from a video game.

I read today that the showrunner got permission from Lord's estate to use his likeness.

The foot chase sequence was pretty awesome. Crazy Parkour moves.

Surely there was a shark in a pool between two of the buildings they were jumping between.
This was in the running for the most ridiculous H50 episode ever aired.

The producer said this was originally planned as the last scene of the last episode, but he decided the show was going to be around for some time to come, so they went ahead and did it. I stopped watching the show a few seasons back, but I was intrigued reading about the scene, so I checked it out "On Demand", and, fortunately, it's in the first five minutes. I don't know if I would have picked up on who it was if I were casually watching it.

I'm sure most of the people who only casually watch H50 on Friday have never heard of Jack Lord or knows what he looks like. So that scene would have had no context to them. The original show aired around 1968 to 1980. Most of H50's current audience wasn't even born then. And before Lord died, he was living a quiet non-eventful life in Hawaii out of the public eye.

Parkour scenes are always ridiculous (District B13, Casino Royale). But they're a shit-ton of fun to watch. This was no exception.

I never watched the original show, so I had no idea that was supposed to be a cameo. I noticed the CGI face and was totally creeped out by it!

Decent premiere. Same old 5-0 stuff.

Rewatched this, as my first viewing was during the day and the bright sun kinda washed out the CGI'd Jack Lord effect. Yes, it did indeed look like a video game, but it wasn't as terrible as say...

Enjoyed the 9/30/16 episode until Steve and Danny started chasing bad guys in Europe as if their Five-O privileges extend beyond Hawaii. They even got a medal from the Queen of England for their efforts! LOL

Loved the chase scene in the first episode. One of the best I've seen in anything, even films.

CGI Jack Lord was a little weird and terribly done.

The second episode was meh...not sure what has happened to Claire Forlani's face over the years.

I enjoyed the chase scene, though having Steve mimick nearly half of the moves was silly. It takes YEARS to be able to do what that guy was doing. How come we don't see Steve use these moves every week to take out the bad guys?

The Jack Lord scene was horrible. They should have totally scrapped it.

And I still don't get why they choose to have the occasional gory episode. This show has a light and fun tone. When they throw in the gore, it seems SO out of place, plays almost like a B-horror movie...

at Steve and a Danny being honored by "Queen Elizabeth"

Chris Vance was a cool guest star, but taking Steve and Danny out of Hawaii to work an international case in Europe was a little out there.

Claire Forlani is only 44, but she's looking really old, especially in Fridays episode.

She needs to put some weight back on. All these actresses that go with the stupid toothpick look always look like crap.

I prefer to remember Claire from her Mallrats days.

I liked the second episode much better than the premiere. It was a bit of fun.

Not me. This one about made me want to throw in the towel on this show for good. It took them half the show to establish the MI6 operative, and then the next half to throw us through about 5 plot twists, including world travel and being honored by the Queen. This would have only worked had they made this about a 5-episode arc. I don't know what they were thinking. It's almost like this show is unrealistic.

Yeah. I'm trying to pare down my DVRing, and this show is getting close to the cut list. This episode did nothing to help the cause. One reason I watch is for the beautiful Hawaiian settings. Not European spying with lame James Bond jokes.

If anyone was going to drop this show, it should have been when the nuke went off in the ocean. But 5-0 and everyone still attends Kono's wedding like nothing happened.

A NUCLEAR BOMB. IN THE OCEAN.

But no way am I trying to defend this show. There are a ton of reasons to drop this show that I can agree with.

10/7 episode... Really? Kono was such a quick draw that not one of those dudes was able to shoot her after she emerged from the bag?? And she was lucky every shot she fired hit its target!

at the final scene with Kono being quick draw McGraw and shooting up all those bad guys straight out of the bag. I don't think she missed even 1 shot!

The subplot with her helping the girl with no legs was just one of those sappy feel good plots.

10/14 episode... Another one where Danny was MIA. And so was the explanation for his absence. (Or did I miss it?) I thought it was a decent episode, but I hope it doesn't lead to a Steve and Alicia romance.

Did Chin and Abby break up? I can't remember, but I noticed she was MIA too.

I found it funny that both Steve MacGarrett and that female FBI profiler got stabbed at the back and yet got out of that blowhole like the stabbing never happened.
