Hope thisis the right place...
Recently the comments in the DVD Talk reviews have been disabled. Text still asks us for our comments but there is no text box to enter them!
What is the issue?

It still comes up for me:
Do you run an ad blocker or anything similar that might be preventing this widget from coming up?

I said something about this a long time ago, nothing ever came of it. Right now, the comments show up in IE which I don't use. They still do NOT show up in Pale Moon, a Firefox clone, even with ad blockers disabled.

As I recall, the "old" comments box wasn't Facebook-based.
The current comments box requires Facebook login.
I think some people are either not seeing the Facebook comments box at all, or are somehow still seeing remnants of the old system (maybe they haven't deleted cookies or all their temporary internet files or whatever? I don't know.)
I see the Facebook comments box on all my browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, IE 11) with and without ad blockers.

It's a Facebook widget. If it's not loading, it's something between your browser and Facebook.

I have a different issue -- I can see them, but when i try to post one, it posts, then there is an error screen, then it disappears. Then if you refresh, it reappears!

Re: Hope thisis the right place...
The downside is that reviewers now have no way of knowing if someone left a comment. The earlier implementation tied into the review CMS.

Re: Hope thisis the right place...
Whenever someone posted a Facebook comment, it'd ping the CMS and notify the reviewer.
That functionality was removed on October 11th, so now reviewers can't really participate in the conversation unless they periodically load their reviews and look for new comments. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it does seem like it limits engagement if the person the comment is meant for may never see it. It also makes comments left in older reviews all but impossible for reviewers to discover.
