Great to see

Spoiler:
Thrawn back. Coruscant, the whole planet city, was also Timothy Zahn's idea and Lucas used it in the prequels. Zahn's trilogy was actually very good.

I believe Thrawn is a Chiss and they always seemed like a cool race so I guess they are canon now too.

Season 3 looks interesting.

Looks pretty awesome.

"You-know-who" looks great, and his characterization seems consistent with the novels.

"Bendu?" Is that the first canon reference to that word? I also think the Bendu was voiced by Tom Baker.

Was that a darksaber Sabine was holding?

Anyone else think older Ezra looked a bit like Snoke? That's been a theory for a while now, and I don't know how I would feel about that plot twist if it happens.

Maybe my EU knowledge is getting mixed but I thought the darksaber was another death star without the extra stuff around it. So it looked like a lightsaber when fired since the only structure was the cylindrical weapon piece. Not something you could hold...

Ezra as snoke would be terrible.

Had absolute chills when seeing that. This is turning out to be such an amazing show, makes me want to go and finish watching Clone Wars.

That was a novel by Kevin J. Anderson.

In Clone Wars the darksaber was an ancient black-bladed lightsaber that was stolen from the Jedi by the Mandalorians, or something. Not sure if it's a unique weapon or if there are more out there.

Ezra as snoke would be terrible.
Quite possibly, yes. I would prefer for Snoke to be something much older and deeper into the lore that has been influencing events from before The Phantom Menace, a sort of Sauron who has been manipulating events.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

Looks like the broken planet Lola Sayu at 1:22. Could also be Peragus II which would be a KOTOR 2 reference but Lola Sayu is the one used back in Clone Wars.

Also, around 3:00 could that be
Spoiler:
Ventress'
voice?

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

Is Season 3 the last season for REBELS? Or am I confusing it with another show?

I don't think REBELS will tie in with the Star Wars movies THAT closely. I mean, yeah, we'll see characters on REBELS that we've seen in the movies, but I don't think we'll see any REBELS characters (meaning characters that originated on REBELS) in any of the films.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

That was just a rumor from a few months back.

Cinelinx is reporting a significant rumor that says that the show’s upcoming third season will in fact be its last.

Expounding on rumors reported on Slashfilm (by current io9 reporter Germain Lussier) in 2014, the site claims that Rebels will end after its third season, replaced by a new animated series that could be potentially set in the “sequel era” between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The third season would focus on linking the series closer and closer to the events of the films—specifically Rogue One—while wrapping up the character arcs of many of the characters on the show. Although the series would come to an end, the site claims, it would live on with direct-to-DVD releases to explore the characters' futures.

As ever with rumors like this, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt—but considering that executive producer Dave Filoni recently told us that he’s already planned how the series ends, perhaps it’s not too unlikely?

I didn't think to bookmark it, but I thought I just read recently that Rebels has been pre-approved by Disney for several more seasons already, like they knew they needed something with legs so they just bought the whole thing from the start.
If I find it again, I'll post it here.

Looking forward to this. I was surprised to see Thrawn - I thought Disney was going to completely ignore all of the extended universe stuff.

Going into the first season I had very low expectations, but the show has really started to grow on me. I even bought a few of the Lego sets.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels (Disney XD) -- Season 3 Discussion Thread

The critically-acclaimed animated series "Star Wars Rebels" returns SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (8:30-9:30 p.m. EDT), and introduces new characters Grand Admiral Thrawn and Bendu during the season three one-hour premiere event, "Steps into Shadow" on Disney XD. Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet - a direct assault on the Empire.

What time are new episodes and repeats?

Thought it was 10 PM ET?

Edit: OK, I see it's 8:30 to 9:30 PM ET.

The scheduling on DirecTV is a mess. I have it set to record all new episodes, and it appears that DXD waits until the last minute to supply episode information so every upcoming episode is listed as new.

It also looks like tonight's one houe episode is actually a special showing of two half-hour episodes so those will be showing up on the regular schedule.

What I would like to eventually see are adventures with this crew that run parallel with the events of Original Trilogy.

Watched the premiere episode. Kinda cool seeing the origin of the Y-Wings and a quick mention of General Dodonna.

I think its Disney XD's fault. Their guide data is always in flux and they rarely schedule things more than 3-4 days in advance. I'm pretty sure this is consciously intended like Cartoon Network has done for years.

I gave up on Rebels after the early days of season two but came back for season 3. I thought the premiere was outstanding. It was more of what I am looking for in a Star Wars series.

So who is the "he lives"?

I gave up in season 2, not because I didn't like the show but because 20 are being recorded every week and it was too much to dig through and find the new one. I'm going to have to try and watch it on Saturday night after it airs or Sunday morning at the latest just so they don't get buried. It is such a good show for a Star Wars fan thought, just like Clone Wars was before it.
