Man of Steel 2 - News, rumors, etc.
Superman may get a little furious for his next solo film.
That’s because Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller is rumored to helm Man of Steel 2. The rumor comes from another Superman director, of sorts-- Jon Schnepp, who just released the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? Appearing on the latest episode of PopCorn Talk, Schnepp said, with confidence, that Mad Max’s Miller would direct Superman's next sequel.
Schnepp didn’t say where he heard the rumor, or add any more to that nugget of information, but it’s an interesting theory nonetheless. Miller is clearly in Warner Bros. good graces with the critical and commercial success of Mad Max: Fury Road, and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will likely be too busy shepperding the Justice League film franchise to return to Superman. Plus, there’s the tiny detail that Miller was supposed to direct DC’s first attempt at a Justice League movie back in 2008. Perhaps a Man of Steel sequel is Warner Bros.' recompense to Miller?
You can watch Schnepp briefly discuss Miller’s involvement below.

Did not like Man of Steel. But if Miller directs a sequel, I'd be interested. As long as the studio doesn't carefully remove his balls before filming.

I hate Man of Steel like the rest of this forum hates female-centric comedies. But I'd give any action movie helmed by Miller a chance.

More buildings falling and dead people and I'm in.

I love MOS (i know, exit DVDTalk immediately) and Mad Max is still my #1 film of Summer. Sounds amazing to me.

Lois dies in a tornado while Clark makes out with Wonder Woman. It's a New 52 thing for Superman/Wonder Woman to be the new hot couple instead of Clark/Lois, so maybe they will do it with the movies too. I didn't think Cavill/Adams had much chemistry anyway so it wouldn't be too bad if they did go that route.
(Not that I want Lois to die, but I think a different relationship besides Clark/Lois would be interesting since it's never been done before outside the comics.)

It could be interesting, but I'd rather see more Mad Max movies.

I dunno. WB did want him to make a JLA movie. He has a lot of free rein apparently at WB. He's not Nolan in terms of power but he keeps WB happy a good bunch. And they did see wtf happened when they left him alone w/ Fury Road. I could see him doing fine w/ a Supes sequel. I know for sure he'd care about a script though. Hopefully he'd get his wife back to edit this thing too cuz she did great work on this new Mad Max.
I'd rather see more Mad Max though. Cuz.. well that's a lot more fresh in the now than the superhero genre. And well... Miller is Miller. Sooooo he's all kinds of badass.

I liked MoS for being a very much needed modern Superman. At the same time... Snyder and Goyer aren't great storytellers.... or ones to distinguish good stories.

Yes, guys, we'd all like to see more Mad Max movies, too.
It's just a shame Miller is only allowed to direct one more movie in his life before returning to his home planet.
Or, more likely, he can do MoS 2 and then another MM. Crazy thought, right?

He's 70. I'd hate to think he went away too soon. Admittingly... he looks really good for 70. He looks like he's in the early 60s if not in his 50s.

Ridley Scott is proof that age doesn't mean shit until you're dead. Which, admittedly, given his age could be at any time.
Still, if we can get MoS 2 and another MM out of Miller I'd be happy.

I wouldn't mind an all around good Superman film too. So maybe.... I want this to happen first now?

Just looking at the other films he's done nothing really sticks out to me as him being a good fit for a big budget superhero film. He's done the Mad Max films for action but nothing else really that makes me think he'd be a good fit for Superman, and even the Mad Max films are a different style of action than a Superman film needs.

I've always thought superman movies needed more pigs in them.
