Lemmy - Dead at 70
WOW!
Lemmy Kilmister, the frontman from Motorhead, has died ... TMZ has confirmed.
We're told the singer passed away just after 4 PM Monday. He had been battling serious health issues, forcing him to scale back on his alcohol and tobacco habits. He had been smoking for 57 years.
Lemmy was credited for started the mutton chops craze back in the 70s.
The original Motorhead drummer, Phil Taylor, died just last month after a long illness.
Lemmy was 70 years old.
R.I.P.

I saw them play once, and after a couple songs at ear-splitting decibels, Lemmy said to the crowd "If you're having trouble hearing us, you can come a bit closer."

You know I'm born to lose and gambling's for fools
But that's the way I like it, baby
I don't wanna live for ever
And don't forget the joker

Motorhead's statement
I love that he got to bring the game home.
There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister
1945 -2015
Born to lose, lived to win.

It has been something all of us have been expecting to come some time down the road but i thought we'd have another year or two and no matter what it still sucks to have lost Lemmy. I feel for his son, I know they were really close. Been listening to the No Remorse album in remembrance, first Motorhead album I bought when I was a kid and been a fan since.

Man, that really sucks. I know he led a hell of a lifestyle, but he was one of those guys that I thought would go on forever. I'll be cranking some Motorhead tonight...

I knew about Lemmy before Motorhead, he was the bass player for Hawkwind. Saw them in concert once, a complete mind fuck. Lemmy lived hard and played hard too. He leaves a lot of memories for alot of people...

Re: Lemmy - Dead at 70
I saw Motorhead on the Operation Rock and Roll Tour back in '91 or so. Loudest band on the bill.
Aftershock would have been a great final Motorhead album, but Lemmy just couldn't stop writing and recording. Oh, well. It was still a great near final album.
Like many others, I'm surprised Lemmy lasted this long. I just always thought he'd die on stage. I'm pretty sure that's how he would have liked to go. It almost happened a couple of times.
He will be missed.

Not a huge fan really but still a pretty big loss for the music world. I was supposed to see Motorhead as the opening act to a Foo Fighters show a few years back but they weren't able to make it due to storms or something causing them to not be able to get to there. RIP..

Can someone decipher the bolded portion:
He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

I like Dave Grohl and I know fanbase says otherwise, but there is no way on God's green earth that Motorhead should ever have to open for The Foo Fighters.
