Rank'em As You Hear'em [2015 Thread]

The 2015 Rank'em As You Hear'em Thread

We don't get much traffic in this forum any longer but it seems a few people still use this thread so what the hell. I didn't keep up my list last year but I'm going to give it another shot in 2015(obligatory statement).

Rate your favorite music from this year by whatever method or system you desire. Keep your list in one post (edit!) and keep them in some sort of order. See the second post for my system.

Note: Please don't use a "placeholder" post if you don't actually plan on updating your list.

This thread is to post lists but feel free to discuss the music too. This is a good place to discuss albums that might not warrant their own thread.

Hopefully we can introduce each other to some good music this year!

Re: Rank'em As You Hear'em [2015 Thread]

I really enjoyed these threads, got exposed to a lot of good music. Now that everybody is gone... where did they go? Is there a subreddit or Twitter hashtag people are using to personally rank their yearly music?

The problem for me is that I don't listen to a lot of new music so I quickly get behind. If we sticky it'll get more people to participate.

Wow. This may be the slowest start I've seen to one of these threads. I wonder how much of it is due to lack of interest in the thread vs being a fairly lame several months for music. I usually average 8-10 albums per month and have only picked up 6 so far. Of those, most are decent, but none have really impressed me much.

It's a combo of both... and I forget to update my post if it's not sticky-ed.

Pageant Material- Kacey Musgraves sophomore studio record is super-slickly produced without losing its twangy country edge, tightly played, and more polished than her debut. But it doesn't quite have the twisty wordplay or thematic resonance of its predecessor. There isn't quite anything that matches the aching melancholia and clever wordplay of "Merry Go-Round" or the self-defeated "It Is What It Is." There's lot to enjoy, but I am worrying slightly that Musgraves "do your own thing and mind your own business" libertarian streak, while a worthwhile message, is too quickly becoming her stock in trade. Still, the album feels laid-back, self-assured, and warm, and sound terrific. The singles are appropriately jaunty, and there are flashes of the sadder edges that attracted me to her in the first place.
