Metro Redux - X1/PS4/PC - 8/26
Metro: Redux Features
Metro 2033:
-All-new lighting engine.
-Lower end PCs perform better.
-Cinematics have been redone and are now presented in first-person perspective.
-Features day and night cycles.
-More detail to levels and will boast greater visual fidelity.
-Some levels have been expanded such as: the Dead City section is now a single level.
-60fps on next-gen consoles.
-Borrows a few gameplay elements for Metro: Last Light, such as adding the option to wipe your mask clean as well as combat improvements - like stealth takedowns and weapon customization
-All character's models will be changed to the Last Light version.
-Metro 2033 Redux will gain all weapons from Last Light and its DLCs.
-More realistic weapon handling: the game tracks whether or not there is a round still in the chamber when reloading.
Metro: Last Light:
-Graphical upgrades
-Improved gameplay
-Includes all Last Light downloadable content.
-Players will be able to check their watch and inventory.
Overall Updates:
-Both games now support Ranger mode, a hardcore difficulty that strips away HUD and other on-screen prompts, leaving you to rely on knowledge of your equipment to survive in the metro.
-Each title can be played in one of two difficulty modes: Survival or Spartan. Survival is modeled after Metro 2033, having more limited supplies and ammunition, slower reload speeds and tougher enemy AI. Spartan makes the game more action- oriented and gives players more resources, in the style of Metro: Last Light.

This is definitely on my "bargain bin" list, as I've always liked the look of the games and never got around to playing the non-1080p versions.

I dunno, $50 for two long games, with DLC included is already kinda' bargain bin.
You can also buy each game separately (digitally) for $25 each.

My PS4 bargain bin list consists of Rayman, Pinball Arcade, Last of Us, AC4, and maybe Metro and Tomb Raider, and I'm looking to get them all in the $20 range.

I played through the first one last year on the 360, so it's too early for me to revisit that one. But I haven't played through Last Light since it was free on PS+ since this was announced. So I'll pick it up during Black Friday when it's on sale.

BB continues to get my money by giving these games away like that. Canceled the Amazon preorder I had for months now and will pick up at BB.

If you have GCU at best buy, game will be 39.99 with a $10 gift card.
Effectively $30 on release day. That is cheap enough for me.

FWIW, my BB only got in two copies of this. I wonder if it's because they didn't want to give away too many gift cards. Anyways, can't wait to start it up later tonight!

Any performance differences between XO and PS4 with this title?

I'm getting ready to lodge my complaint on here and it is very valid. So, I'm playing my game through my surround sound system and the game rotates the sound depending on which way I am looking. Now, the problem is that when I am facing someone I can hear them but if I simply turn around then you hear absolutely nothing. You can see the subtitles of what they are saying, if you have them on, but you hear zilch. Now, this is absolutely fucking stupid. Early on in the game you are looking down the tunnel for threats while the guy behind you is talking. However, you are not allowed to hear what he is saying while keeping your joy ride safe. lol!

Finished the first game, moving on to the second, which I should finish in time for Destiny.
Anyhoo, good times so far. Nicely atmospheric, and even though the settings are all largely the same, they do mix things up enough to keep things from getting too repetitive. They seemed to barely skim the story in the first one, which I hope they flush out more in the second (and I hope there's a satisfying ending as well).
The stable 60fps is nice, especially when things get hectic, which I remember was a pain on the 360 as it suddenly dropped a lot of frames-per-second when there was a lot going on. Out of the 10 hours I've played so far, I've had the game freeze just once, and otherwise it's been a very solid game, with zero hiccups and pretty quick loading.

So will this be a Steam update for those of us that already have the PC versions or a separate purchase entirely?

Yeah but how do you apply that discount? Nevermind it was for pre-orders only.

I guess I'll wait for a Steam sale. I have the original two but have yet to play them.
