Smokey And The Bandit 4 " The Last Ride"
Ok I know Burt Reynolds is old and Jerry reed and Jackie Gleason are dead but what the hell everything that burt reynolds makes is straight to video now anyway so why not make another sequel. I'm sure it would make a decent amount of money just out of peoples curiousity of seeing an old man drive around in a trans am with sally field so he could take the sherriffs urn across country in just 48 hours while being chased by the sherriffs dumb**** son or some other group of rednecks. come on people help me with the plot or tell me what you think about the idea.

What the made the original great was Jackie Gleason. Even with him the other two were pretty crappy. I don't really see it as being feasible but I'm sure someone will want to remake it with an RV and a Fast and Furious rice burner.

Seriously, if they could get these two together, they could always try to get Brad Garrett to fill the Jackie Gleason role, or play a Son of Buford role. He did a decent job in the Jackie Gleason Story.
And hey, Sally Field and Paul Williams are always looking for work, right?

It's funny seeing this thread pop up, because I was recently wondering who would be cast in a SATB remake. I was thinking Matthew McConaughey as the Bandit and Billy Bob Thornton as Snowman.

If I were re-casting Smokey and the Bandit, it would be as follows:
Matthew McConaghey- Bandit
Tim McGraw-Snowman (replace a singer with a singer, and he's a decent actor)
Amy Adams- Sally Field role
Smokey-???? herein lies the problem. Jackie Gleason is kind of irreplaceable in that role. One possibility is to change Sheriff Justice's gender and make it a tough redneck woman. If this were the route, I would recommend either Jane Lynch or Melissa McCarthy.
Other problem is that CBs and stuff like that are now outdated, and technology makes it a lot easier to track someone. They would either have to set it in the 70s or do a lot of updates.

My vote is for Johnny Knoxville & Seann William Scott. Or Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson.

Actually the music angle was one reason why I suggested Billy Bob Thornton. On the other hand, he doesn't seem to like mixing his movie and music careers.
They probably would have to just set it in the 70s or something, due to the CB thing and lack of GPS. And of course, if you keep the beer bootlegging plot it won't make sense today.
