American Horror Story: Coven (Starts 10/9/2013)
I thought this deserved its own thread.
Big chills are coming to the Big Easy.
American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy revealed Friday evening on the final night of PaleyFest 2013 that the third installment of the FX frightfest would be subtitled Coven.
He also confirmed that which was leaked last week, that the new season will film, in part, in New Orleans.
And while it’s obvious that witches figure into AHS: Coven, Murphy indicated that the show will once again conjure up a melange of scary themes. “It’s about a lot of things,” he said.
Turning to its genesis, he explained, “It’s a really cool story that we’ve been talking about for a couple of years actually, and this seemed the year to do it.”
As for the setting, Murphy reiterated that the narrative will take place in multiple cities, and that this marks the first year the show will go on the road and shoot on location. (The Harmon House and asylum interiors, he noted, were sets on a studio.)
When approaching Season 3, Murphy said, “The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales.”
Asked about her role in Coven — which had previously been summed up as a “glamour cat” — threepeat cast member Jessica Lange said, “I don’t know what a ‘glamour cat’ is, but I am excited.”
Other returning players include Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga, while Kathy Bates is the “new kid” on the block, playing what Murphy has called “a bad, bad woman,” someone “five times worse than [her] Misery character — which is why she liked it.”
Bates joined the PaleyFest panel toward the end, saying that she won’t have a bead on her character “until I’ve gotten in and walked around in her shoes yet, but I’m awfully excited.”
“I wanted to see a lot of scenes of Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates going at it,” Murphy said of Horror Story‘s latest great casting get, “so that’s what you’re going to see.”

The title "Coven" reminds me of "American Movie" with the low budget director's short also called "Coven" (although he kept pronouncing it as "Cove-in" instead of correctly as "Cuv-in")

While I enjoyed last season I felt that the scope of it was a bit too big and some story lines didn't pan out as much as they could have. I'm still very much game for this season but I'm hoping they get back to the smaller scope of season one.

Loved the first two seasons. So I'm totally in for this one. Hopefully Kathy Bates is in full on Misery mode.

Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett and Broadway legend Patti LuPone are joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven, the witch-themed third chapter of FX’s hit spookfest.
AHS cocreator Ryan Murphy announced the news on Twitter early Sunday.
She joins returning AHS fixtures Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga, in addition to fellow newbies Gabourey Sidibe and Oscar winner Kathy Bates.
Coven will mark the first time AHS will go on the road and shoot on location. (The Harmon House and asylum interiors of Seasons 1 and 2 were sets on a studio.) “The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales,” Murphy revealed at Paley Fest last month.
And while the name Coven implies a central storyline pertaining to witches, Murphy noted that the scares will come from a variety of sources. “It’s about a lot of things,” he added.
Murphy had also previously stated that the new season will be “more historical in nature” and take place in modern day. But just like past seasons, we will see different “time periods” and “there [will] also be different cities.” Bates and Lange, meanwhile, will portray best friends-turned-arch enemies.

American Horror Story: Coven has cast its spell on Emma Roberts.
The Scream 4 actress is nearing a deal to join the FX drama’s witch-themed third chapter, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Roberts — who most recently starred in Fox’s ill-fated pilot Delirium — will play a self-involved party girl by the name of Madison.
Fun fact: Roberts’ casting places her on screen alongside real-life boyfriend, Horror Story vet Evan Peters.
As previously reported, AHS fixtures Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga will be back for Season 3. Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe, meanwhile, are among the addictive hit’s fresh faces.

It's funny that a project like this attracts so much talent. I guess they all saw Lily Rabe last year and thought it could be a good time.
