Any idea if this works for non-Region 1 DVDs no the BD60?

Wow! Thanks!

I tried this with my Panasonic Blu ray 3D player (DMP-BDT210) and surprisingly your simple hack works on that player, too. Fantastic!

Well, you're more of a tech wizard than me. I would never have guessed that something so simple could actually work. I'm still amazed because I spent cash to mod my Oppo Blu ray player just so I could play Blu rays from all regions.

Next, you'll have to figure out the series of buttons to press so that we can play DVDs from all regions. I know you'll suss it out because you're The Man!

I have a BD-65, but no discs to test it with. I would love to have this ability.

Many thanks to LosingMyMind. This is a revelation. Using the Blu of Coeur Fidele from the MOC dual format release, I tried it on my BD-65, pressing "stop" then "1", then "OK" on the remote. It worked like magic.

Same here only I have the BD85. I've been in the market for a region free player and this would definitely save me a little dough if it worked.

Thanks so much. Works on my DMP BDT100 as well. Hope they don't "fix" this with a firmware update. I was contemplating purchasing a region free BD player. Little did I know I already had one. Only tested with Mulholland Dr. so far. Already had a region free DVD player.

Wow! This is my player as well! I've been wanting a region-free player but haven't wanted to spend the money nor take my chances with some sketchy firmware. This is fantastic news!

Doesn't really apply to any hi-def content but these machines don't play PAL with current firmware. I was unable to play my French "Very Long Engagement" BD. I suspect it must start with PAL content. This workaround works for discs that rely on hi def content.

I posted this possible solution over at the Blu-ray.com forum, and people are saying that they are trying it and it's not working.

I hate it for them. I tried the MOC Two Lane Blacktop disc and it worked with it also.

I don't hold out much hope of it working, but has anyone tried it on a BD35 (or BD55)? I would but I haven't any non-Region 1 discs.

Re: Panasonic DMP-BD60 is Capable of Playing Region B and C Disc.

clckworang, I read the replies there. I am using a Harmony 880 remote. I didn't do any special programming of the remote. The button I hit as enter is labelled OK and is center button surrounded by arrows. I can't find my factory Panny remote. I'm having a busy time at work and haven't gotten to play with it much more.

Re: Panasonic DMP-BD60 is Capable of Playing Region B and C Disc.

I didn't think much about the difference between "enter" or "OK." I'm pretty sure one of the people posting over there was trying with a model that no one had been able to verify, so maybe that model just doesn't work with this method. The one who couldn't get it to work with the BDT210 ... I don't know, but I placed an order at Amazon UK that included a couple of region-locked titles so I'll report my findings when those come in.

Oh, I suppose I should also mention that there was someone else over there who reported success with a BDT110.

The UK Rolling Thunder BD does not play a "wrong region" screen. It just instantly goes back to the Panny window. It still works with the trick and plays the film. Would not play the trailer from the disc. Must be PAL.

Re: Panasonic DMP-BD60 is Capable of Playing Region B and C Disc.

It seems that there are different codes for different blu rays. I have the Panasonic BD70V & tried it with The Bedsitter Room & it worked, but then I tried it with My Blueberry Nights & it didn't work. My Blueberry Nights starts "playing" but with a black screen & no sound as soon as I put it in. I tried to stop, 1, ok..but I always get an "operation not available" message. So I experimented with different numbers & it seemed to work when I simply entered "4" & "ok", I got the main menu & was able to play the movie, but then I tried to access special features, but only could get their sound to play. My TV (Samsung) wouldn't display the video content for the special features, maybe they are PAL?

Tried a couple of more discs. Workaround works with the Park Circus Phantom of the Opera BD. Could not get it to work with the Studio Canal BD of The Pianist which seems wierd since it worked with Mulholland Dr.

As long as you don't want to watch the trailer. If you have a BD-ROM drive on a computer, I'm sure you know it's easy to manipulate the region to watch the extras.
