Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "The Tangible Affection Proof" -- 2/14/13

I thought tonight's episode was pretty damn good. I liked that they finally directly addressed Penny and Leonard's relationship issue about her commitment issues. I also liked how they didn't make Leonard just sit back and take her ruining their evening and stood up for himself a bit.

Also found the stuff with Sheldon and Amy pretty funny. It seemed like in a couple of episodes they were kind of growing his character a bit, but tonight showed that he's still essentially the same self-centered person but that he does seem to be trying a bit (in his way) to show Amy that he cares a little.

Howard and Bernadette was kind of funny too. I liked that she hid his X-Box because he wasn't doing the laundry .

Raj I still don't know what to make of exactly. Tonight he sounded overtly homosexual with his comments towards Stuart, and not just some language barrier thing where the wording came out sounding that way. I don't really care either way I just wish they'd decide what they want to do with his character sort of. His speech at the end was pretty good though and I wonder if that shy girl who came up to him will develop into a relationship for him or if she's just a one off guest.

So Raj can talk to girls now? When did that happen?

Was there alcohol at Stuart's party? I guess that makes sense. It's a party. Why wouldn't there be alcohol there.

I hope Kate Micucci is recurring. I like her.

So the show has definitely changed in 5 years. It used to be about 4 geeks and their first real exposure to a hot chick, soon it will be about 4 constantly bickering couples.

So Gretchen is Penny's(Kaley Cuoco) real life younger sister... That makes the whole thing even funnier now.

At first I thought that Penny invented the whole thing to distract Howard and Bernadette, or at least make them stop fighting. So I kept waiting and waiting...

Oh yeah, Penny looked really great in that dress, specially at the end.

Re: The Big Bang Theory -- "The Tangible Affection Proof" -- 2/14/13

I'm finding it more and more difficult to find Penny attractive anymore, especially after this episode. She's there's with her boyfriend who basically waits on her hand and foot and she's obsessing over an ex.

And I thought Alex was no longer a part of the show?

You figure after accusing three of the guys of sexual harassment Sheldon would have fired her or something.

All in all entertaining but not hysterical.

After she filed a complaint with the university and Sheldon dug himself in deeper by essentially confirming her side of things, there's no way he'd be allowed to fire her.

Or she would be reassigned to another position/person.

Meh, I think the show manages to balance out the geeky stuff and the relationships pretty well honestly. The girls are a part of the show but if anything I think they just add more to it and don't make the show less enjoyable. Plus I think it's natural over the course of a series for characters to grow and go through changes a bit instead of just staying entirely the same.

I found it uncharacteristic of Sheldon to have roughly $2,000 crumpled in both his pockets and in his desk.

Whoa, I thought they actually humanize Sheldon a bit last week! He actually admitted he was wrong. No he's back to being a raging dickhead. I can't imagine Alex is paid well enough to suffer his bullshit.

Well, in spite of its best efforts, it has to change somehow over the years. I like that it's evolved somewhat. Hell, Howard went from creepy asshole to like able character.

Well I think the show re-invented itself well and prevented itself from dropping in to a creative sink hole. The premise of four guys and a hot girl can only be funny for so long until you expect something different to happen. I like how Bernadette and Amy are geeky women in relationships with the geeky guys, and I like Leonad and penny's on again off again romance in spite of its faults. Bernadette really works well as a foil to Howard's obnoxious attitude, and Amy really absorbs Sheldon's insufferable ego.

They've established in the past that money means nothing to Sheldon, so I totally buy him being so careless and matter-of-fact with it.

Yeah that was kind of a random Kramer moment.

Even if money means nothing to him I always assumed he was an "everything in its place" type.

Right that was kind of my point that the characters have grown over the years. It was the person I was quoting who didn't seem to like the idea that they have. I'm fine with it.
