Best Buy - $50 any purchase of $100 or more when using Mastercard today through 1/27

Figured this would be a good place to post this. Best Buy has a coupon for $50 off a $100 purchase when using Mastercard good today through 1/27. There are a bunch of exclusions for bigger ticket items, but should have no problems using it on DVDs, Blu Rays, and Video Games. One thing the coupon does not make clear is if it's good on gift cards or not, which would be absolutely crazy if it is since they sell Amazon Kindle gift cards in stores as well. Good luck.

What does this mean? Do Amazon Kindle gift cards work on anything but Kindle books?

Thanks Sweet Baby James, we'll just go off that one then.

As far as the Amazon Kindle gift cards, they can be used on anything sold by Amazon.com, not just their Kindle store.

Was going to go out today, but I may just wait until tomorrow and see how this plays out. Was going to wait and rent End of Watch, but may very well pick it and a couple of other things up as well.

I may look into this with some TV blu-ray sets. I wonder if it will stack with the $5 upgrade coupons?

I bet it is major YMMV for upgrade & save on top of this depending on the wording for the U&S coupon... as this coupon here does not state anything about combining offers... also would need to see the wording on the phone upgrade coupon.. and the phone trade-in coupon.. if all that combines.. yowsa..

Reading other forums, it sounds like it's a no go on the gift cards, even though it's not listed as an exclusion.

I'm heading out. Someone from my neck of the woods posted his receipt over at SD. He was able to get a BB gift card-

Will probably head over later with 5 DVDs to trade-in and try to find $100 worth of stuff to get for $50. I really wish my local Best Buy carried more Criterions I already didn't own.

So is this the beginning of the Best Buy liquidation? Healthy businesses don't give out coupons of this magnitude.

Used this on my lunch, but they had to override the price. The system recognized the coupon, but took off a discount of $0 for my order. Picked up Premium Rush, Mad Men Season 5, Beasts of the Southern Wild and Ed Wood for ~$55. They wouldn't stack U&S with this promotion due to the U&S language, but still not a bad deal.

Re: Best Buy - $50 any purchase of $100 or more when using Mastercard today through 1

This was a fun lunch break. So, I ran home, grabbed 7 DVDs to Trade-In and headed to Best Buy.

Must have been a new rep b/c he scanned all 7 of my DVDs for Upgrade and Save. But, then the $50 Off Coupon would not take, so a manager came over and as he was looking at the coupon he asked another rep if they had seen them yet and she replied, "Yes, but it is $50 Off Accessories only. So, movies would not count and it is off of full retail purchases only." Nevertheless, as I had been there a while at this point, the manager did an override to get the $50 off my purchase (in addition to the 7 upgrade and save coupons).

So, in total, I got the following Blu-rays for $63.53 after tax.

The Man Who Knew Too Much (Criterion)
Hocus Pocus
Newsies
Dick Tracy
The Muppets
Catch Me If You Can
Titanic

Major YMMV on this thing.

Shame it's not valid on TVs. I've got gift cards and RZ points that'd come in handy. Think I'll head there anyway tomorrow.

It says on the coupon exactly what is excluded. If a Best Buy employee/manager tries to tell you it's for accessories only, they are just making shit up now. This is why I hate some of the Best Buy promotions, there alway seems to be instances of stores finding ways to not honor deals.

If the woman who said that had been helping me I would have pushed back on it b/c the coupon explicitly states what is excluded. But, it was merely an aside to the manager helping me and I could tell he was going to make an "exception" for me considering how long I had been there.

That same woman who said that was the one who gave me push back on the upgrade and save promotion when I went the first day of this round telling me that the blu-rays I selected needed to be on a list to be eligible. I fought that battle and won.

Re: Best Buy - $50 any purchase of $100 or more when using Mastercard today through 1

Decided to go to BBY anyway today. Already had in mind what I was going to get and took in one dvd to trade in to get me over the $100 mark. CS line was long and did not feel like waiting 30+ minutes to trade in one movie.

Picked up a set of Klipsch bookcase speakers that were 99.99 and found one copy of the Bloodwork BD near the front checkouts to get me over the mark. Coupon would not scan so the cashier in electronics had to call for help. The guy who came over saw the cpn and called someone in the store to inquire as to what they had found out about the coupon.

I overheard him saying something about BBY Mastercard. But when I went to pay, he just asked to make sure I was paying with a Mastercard.

They pushed it through but not before re-ringing the two items up after putting in the cpn first. Once the cpn went in and everything had been scanned they hit what I assume was the total button and the $50 came off.
