Wasteland 2 Project on Kickstarter
I wonder how many more of these we'll see pop up. Anyway, Brian Fargo who was the founder of Interplay, has started a Kickstarter project to make Wasteland 2. The original Wasteland was the inspiration for the Fallout games.

Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to the first ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG. The original Wasteland was the inspiration for the FALLOUT series of games, and the first RPG to allow players to split parties for tactical considerations, to face players with moral choices, and to make them deal with the consequences of their actions. It was the first to provide far more than the one-key-for-one-lock style of puzzle solving. It was groundbreaking, which is why IGN named it one of the top 25 PC games of all time, Computer Gaming World named it the Adventure Game of the year in 1988, and it was short-listed for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s current “Art of the Computer Game” exhibition.

Did anyone play the Bard's Tale remake? I don't recall hearing too much about it when it released.
I'm down for another post apoc top down turn-based RPG though.

SOme unique gifts the more you donate, at 1K you get (among other things):
BECOME AN NPC, WEAPON, OR LOCATION in the Wasteland 2 world! We will get your name and (if relevant) a picture of you to add your general likeness to the actual shipped game. Brag to your friends and beg them not to take you out with a Meson Cannon.
5k:
We will BUILD A STATUE, in your honor. After getting a picture of you, we will carefully craft this in game statue. You are now forever a part of Wasteland history.

From the FAQ:
http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/...enIsMyCardChar
Also, if you (mhg83) are a character in this, I'm buying it for sure.
If I make a pledge, when is my card charged?
If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged. That's why we call them pledges.

Up to $641,000.
Here's an interview with Brian Fargo about this Kickstarter:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012...n-wasteland-2/
An interesting note from the interview is that while inXile has the rights to do a Wasteland 2, they apparently don't have the rights to the original Wasteland game. Which at least partially explains why it's not available for sale anywhere currently. Hopefully this kickstarter will cause EA to get the original game out there somewhere for purchase, even if it's just a digital download on Steam or Origin.

The original Wasteland is an old DOS game from 1988. It won't run on Windows at all without DOSBox. Not even GOG deals with games that old, so Steam or Origin certainly never will either. The best you can hope for is a remake like the recent Secret of Monkey Island remake.

GOG in particular deals with a lot of old DOS games. I don't know if King's Quest is the oldest game they have, but it's older than Wasteland.

Found a list purporting to be the "10 oldest games" available on GOG:
http://www.gog.com/en/mix/the_ten_oldest_games_on_gog
On the list, the absolute oldest is Zork (1980).
