ABC: The River starts February 7 (2 hour series premiere)
Found footage? Horror? Smoky goes on vacation?
Only 8 episodes in the first season.
I can only wait for the comments here.
Great interactive site here too: http://www.exploretheriver.com/

I'm really excited for this. I'm a big Paranormal Activity fan and the fact this is only 8 episodes makes me think this won't be packed with filler.

I'm excited for this as well. It looks interesting and with its "limited order" could be a really interesting from a business model point of view.

Yup. This, along with Alcatraz, are the 2 shows I was really looking forward to. I've enjoyed Alcatraz so far so hopefully I like this too.

Looking forward to this, but I hope the entire series doesn't have those fake CRT scan lines like the previews have.

All that's missing is Jon Voight.

Really surprised by all the positive comments here
I was expecting everyone to say how this can't work in a TV series. At least like some comments in the AHS threads.

So 6 or 7 episodes in, will I be asking 'why the hell are they still running around with video cameras instead of trying to survive'? Put the damn camera down and run, stupid! Now if one of the camera men use it as a weapon. Well, that remains to be seen.
I like this kind of stuff so I'm in. Monsters, Troll Hunter, Cloverfield... just hope they can figure out how to carry a series with this premise.

ABC is treating this series more like a miniseries than a normal television show. They have ordered 8 episodes that tells a complete story. If the series is successful they will greenlite additional 8 to 12 episode "seasons" treating them more as sequels than a continuation of the same series. Almost like the british TV model.

Yeah it's essentially like what we are seeing with American Horror Story. Hopefully this is good and successful because I'm really digging the idea of these complete story seasons and it works perfectly with the horror genre.
