Barnes & Noble Groupon fiasco:
1. Groupon offers $20 Barnes & Noble gift cards for $10. Limit 1 per customer.
2. I buy 50+ using the Groupon app (one per city).
3. I buy $1500+ MSRP worth of Blu-rays, books, and music.
4. Groupon auto-refunds all but 1 of my vouchers (probably enforcing the 1 per customer rule).
5. I end up with $1500+ worth of stuff for $10.
I got in on lots of great deals this year but for me that ridiculous series of events won't be topped for a long time.
Edit: Stackable $10 for $20 Overstock.com codes were probably a close second. Shame few others seemed interested in that particular deal. I got a lot of Kino and Criterion Blu-rays for 70-80% off.

Kudos to JR.com for these great buys:
Laurel & Hardy:the Essential Collection - $35.99
Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends:the Complete Collection - $19.99
From Warner Archive, bought The Falcon Mystery Movie Collection Vol.1 for $19.99(a pricing error which they honored).
My best deal personally was purchasing these box sets from a local liquidator at $5 a pop:
Ronald Reagan - the Signature Collection
Errol Flynn Adventures: TCM Spotlight
Film Noir Classic Collection Vol.5

Re: DVD deals of the year 2011
I haven't been shy about my disappointment with the changed DD, but they did come through with my best deal of the year: Doctor Who Complete S6 for $23 and change. I thought the price was a typo, but the set arrived a few days ago. Thanks DD. Best one-of-a-kind used deal from Half Price: Midsomer Murders Early Cases $40.

My personal favorite DVD deals of the year are the Black Emanuelle box sets @ $19.99 each.
I LOVE the bonus CD discs of Nico Fidenco music and play them frequently!

Is a "glitch/screwup/abuse" the same thing as a "deal"? In that case, my best Target deal was when they forgot to charge me for the 50$ bag dog food on the bottom of the cart, I should have stocked up on that deal and complained when they asked me to pay for it.
The couple legitimate deals that I got in that I thought were the best were:
Complete Bullwinkle
Reaper S1/S2 for 4 bucks each (I had never seen this show, it's hilarious)
Muppet bundle for 50 from Amazon
Pink Panther Ultimate for 35

Re: DVD deals of the year 2011
I consider the CH bargains a deal because, unlike your dog food example, the CH glitch was available to anyone for a number of days. I was able to open 2 accounts over a period of 3 days or so. I picked a number of expensive box sets for .49 cents.

Re: DVD deals of the year 2011
While I'm not one that tries to abuse glitches, I could have gotten the Star Trek sets and more. I wasn't expecting to get it. Alot of my tv show boxsets "gets lost in transit" they resend and I still never get it.
But I did get alot of other deals
Batman Beyond Complete $38.49
Justice League Complete $42.99
According to Jim S2/3 $3.99 each
The Muppet bundle from Amazon about $42 got money off it using SavingStar website
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory $1.99

The Rome sale was part of the annual VIAAC sale which you can only buy from if your company is associated with them. I got a bunch of crazy good $4 movies on Blu as part of that sale, but Rome was the best.
