99 Cents Only stores has a few DVD's
Not sure if this is YMMV but I just got back from one of the local 99 Cents Only stores and they had:
Mucha Lucha: Heart of Lucha
Mucha Lucha: The Return of El Malefico
Static Shock: The New Kid
Samurai Jack: The Premiere Movie
Codename: Kids Next Door: Sooper Hugest Missions: File One
WB Television Favorites: Night Court
and a couple of the Friends compilations--the one with babies and the one with weddings if I remember correctly.
For .99 cents, a very good deal in my opinion. I'll check out a couple of the other stores soon to see if the variety differs at each location.

The 99 cent store that I went to had the following for 99 cents each:
Television Favorites: Dukes of Hazzard
Best of Friends: Season 1
Best of Friends: Season 2
Best of Friends: Season 3
Best of Friends: Season 4
Television Favorites: Maverick (starring James Garner)
All of the above have 3 or 4 "best of" episodes on one disc. The Best of Friends are in snapper cases.
All except Maverick are available in complete season sets from the usual places.
I bought the Maverick disc. The episodes are Shady Deal at Sunny Acres, Pappy and Gun-Shy. Total running time is 149 minutes.
This is definately a YMMV situation.

I watched the Maverick disc and the episodes were great!
I have to stop by later this week and pick up a few copies as stocking stuffer Christmas gifts. I know several people who would like the Maverick dvd and for only 99 cents you can't go wrong.

The particular store in Los Angeles I went to had 3 large boxes of just Chico and the Man. Each case held about 25 dvds.
One display was located near the front door, another display was in the stationary aisle, and another display was near the checkout lines.
Hopefully, they will stock other WB TV Favorites like, Alice, F-Troop, or Cheyenne.

Darn, no stores in my area according to their store locator. Just stores in Arizona/California/Nevada/Texas. http://www.99only.com/locator/index.php
Before I logged in, I did see the AD in the first post telling me I can open a 99 cent store starting at $48,900.00

We just had a 99¢ Store open a month or two ago and I stopped by today for the first time and found:
Television Favorites: Dukes of Hazzard
Television Favorites: Chico and the Man
Television Favorites: Drew Carey
That was it. They had about 50 of each.
Oh and a bunch of MIB II's on VHS.

Haha, on VHS? That's hilarious.
I was always told their stock was based on product from local stores. Guess I was wrong!
I have two (one by my house and one by work) I got in on a regular basis. I'll have to scope them out.
Thanks!

ron lee green posted a pretty comprehensive list of what I was seeing at the other stores. I picked up Chico and Drew but didn't see Kotter. Normally, I don't even bother with these "best of" type of things but it's a nice tide me over until I get around to buying these sets in season form.
I also thought that a set of the various WB favorites would make a good X-Mas idea. Overall, it's just exciting to find "real" movies at the .99 cent store for a change. While I like some of the oddball public domain finds like Santa Claus vs. the Martians, they get old pretty quickly.

Haven't seen anything in a few months, looks like I'll have to check tomorrow. For a while the VHS's were 2 for 99 cents but they've since gone up to 59 cents each- I bought a couple Men In Black II tapes to use for test tapes while fixing or tweaking my VCRs.

Some of the stores also have a softcover Superman Returns one too. For fans of the Marvel Comics characters...they also have framed pictures of various superheros (Spidey, Hulk, Wolverine, etc.) and also they have metal figurines from Spider-Man 3, Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four 2. I've picked up most of the framed pictures...I think they're really cool looking...and now they have some in 3-D.
Today I went back and picked up Samurai Jack...never saw the show...so I hope it's good....but for 99 cents I can't complain. I remember some folks here saying they enjoyed the show.

Just got back from the 99 cents store.
They had some new dvds--all Warner Bros., but no new TV Favorites collections spotted. Was hoping to find Alice or F-Troop.
Here's the new stuff I saw:
Zorro (animated series)
Atomic Betty (animated)
Tale of Cinderella
The Saddle Club
Body by Jake fitness dvd
They also had a dvd of a single Jetsons original cartoon episode, "Microchip Chump" packaged in a cardboard sleeve. Thought it might be cheaper, so I asked for a price check, but it still rang up 99 cents, so I didn't get it.
There was a sign on the vhs tape shelf that said, VHS 39 cents.
Tons of MIB tapes, some Madonna's Swept Away, Urban Legends

It's certainly YMMV but they keep getting in titles so who knows? I saw, but didn't buy, a few NBA titles the other day. Great Rivalries, Hakeem Alijouon(sp?) and ankle breakers vol. 1.

I saw the NBA ones too. They had Magic Johnson and a few that were 2-disc sets. Not a basketball fan, so I didn't pick any up. I got CNN's Election 2000...looks like an interesting documentary on the whole Florida fiasco.
