New Columbia House Blu-Ray Club

not looking good fellow deal seekers...

www.columbiahouse.com/blu-ray gives the details on their new club...

2 for 5.99 each + sh / commit to 3 regular price...

even with the most ideal codes (if they even exist in the new club) i would guesstimate this is a $9 or higher average... and most likely not worth the rinse and repeat.

And a whopping 50 titles to pick from.

It's an obvious NO THANK YOU, but what really sucks is this might confirm the permanent death of the BR as enrollments for the normal club.

I like how you choose the title from the drop-down, meaning you pick Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! and have no idea whether it's the TV special or the CGI movie.

Re: New Columbia House Blu-Ray Club

Maybe adding Blu-Rays to the enrollment of the DVD club was a test to see interest... although I can't believe they didn't know there would be interest... and now... cause there was so much interest... lol... they have started a club for Blu... and think so many people want it ... that these same people are willing to pay a premium...

I think those prices may have been tempting to some ... maybe years ago... but now with so many titles available for so much lower... I can't imagine that many people really joining....

5.99 isn't terrible.. but the shipping on top of it isn't good at all. makes each title around 9 bucks before the fulfillment titles.

Thats a HUGE pass. Hopefully, it will get better someday. After all, DVDs are slowly being phased out, although the emphasis is on the word slowly.

Maybe they are still working on things? Yeah it seems like such a small selection but maybe as time goes on they will roll out more titles. Obviously such a small selection isn't going to excite a lot of people.

The fulfillment portion seems deliberately hidden. I hope people that don't frequent a site such as this don't overlook that portion (averages out to, what, $15 or so per title?).

Should be interesting to see how well this does. Personally hope it falls on it's face since it is not worth it at all.

probably more... i got my 9/per figuring factoring in a potential b1g1f free ship code that worked on blu-ray since it's a blu-ray club afterall... that will be a best case scenario

The way CH handles b1g1 it would probably be worse since they charge regular price for the first one. Knowing them it would be $24 or more.

I just did a B1(blu)G1(dvd) to fulfill my last enrollment and they didn't charge full price on the blu. (but I did pay ship)

I got this email also. Your choices are limited to 50 select titles and you must buy 3 titles within 2 years. I did not see an option to buy a 3rd title at a reduced price like they do with the dvd club.

Also, you must pay now with a credit or debit card and keep one on file at all times. No more order now, pay later option.

Re: New Columbia House Blu-Ray Club

This is sad. I wish I had opened more accounts when they were allowing BD's with the 7:2 enrollments. I only opened two accounts, but I wish I had done more, now that I know we won't be getting any deals on BD enrollments again anytime soon.
