Kipper's Six-Episodes-Makes-A-Season Challenge
Seems like this challenge would be a good time to catch up on the classic shows of the BBC. I had already started watching Are You Being Served? before the challenge started, but I'm also Netflixing other BBC shows that I've never seen before, mostly comedies with 6 or so episodes per series. Few of these I have seen in their entirety, or seen so long ago that I barely remember them. so most will be First Time Viewings. Each episode will count as 1 entry, and all are being watched on DVD.
Goal: To watch 50 episodes of BBC comedy.

May 1:

May 2:
ARE YOU BEING SERVED? S2
1. "The Clock"
2. "Cold Comfort"
3. "The Think Tank" -I watched S1 in April, and I had actually seen all of those episodes, over and over again on PBS over the years. Oddly enough, although they are repeated often as well, I've seen very few episodes from S2 on until now.

May 3:
ARE YOU BEING SERVED? S2
4. "Big Brother"
5. "Hoorah for the Holidays"

May 4:
ARE YOU BEING SERVED? S3
6. "The Hand of Fate"
7. "Coffee Morning"
8. "Up Captain Peacock" - There's not a whole lot of difference between the episodes of the first 3 seasons...casting and writing are consistant, which is a good thing.

May 5:
ARE YOU BEING SERVED? S3
9. "Cold Store"
10. "Wedding Bells"
11. "German Week"

May 6:
ARE YOU BEING SERVED? S3
12. "Shoulder to Shoulder"
13. "New Look"

May 7:
THE OFFICE S1
14. "Downsize"
15. "Work Experience"
16. "The Quiz"

May 8:
THE OFFICE S1
17. "Training"
18. "New Girl"
19. "Judgement" - For the most part, I feel the the US version is superior in every way. Casting is better in the US version, and the characters are much better defined in the US version (even though both first seasons had the same number of episodes.) Gervais is good in his role, but his constant tie-fidgeting is annoying. The UK series is much slower paced and less-funny, which actually worked well in the final S1 episode ("The Judgement" had an odd feel to it, which I liked.) To sum it up, congratulations to the US version for taking a good BBC show and making it better.

May 9:
FAWLTY TOWERS S1:
20. "A Touch of Class"
21. "The Builders" - I had probably seen about half of these episodes, so this is the first time I've seen this show complete and in order.

May 10:
FAWLTY TOWERS S1:
22. "The Wedding Party"
23: "The Hotel Inspectors"
24: "Gourmet Night"
25: "The Germans"

May 11:
FAWLTY TOWERS S2:
26. "Communication Problems"
27. "The Psychiatrist" - This episode might be the funniest episode I have ever seen of any comedy series. And the preceding episode comes in at a close second.

May 12:
FAWLTY TOWERS S2:
28. "Waldorf Salad"
29. "The Kipper and the Corpse"

May 13:
FAWLTY TOWERS S2:
30. "The Anniversary"
31. "Basil the Rat" - Before I watched the entire series, I was skeptical that this show was one of the best comedies ever made...I had enjoyed the odd episode here and there, but just wasn't overwhelmed one way or another. After watching it in its completeness, I'm no longer on the fence...it was a great show, one of the best of all time. It's a shame that we were gifted with only 12 episodes of it.
