Amazon shipping question

Just wondering how Amazon ships items like Blu-ray/DVD players? Thinking of ordering one, and I'm afraid they will ship it in its original packaging instead of the normal Amazon box. I have Prime, and plan to order with 1 day shipping (if that matters).

Re: Amazon shipping question

Considering that Amazon doesn't have a lot of consistency in their packaging, it's hard to tell how it will come.

We've ordered a few appliances from them, and they've arrived both ways. The Kitchenaid stand mixer we ordered a few years ago was shipped in its factory box, while a few other (smaller) appliances arrived inside Amazon boxes.

Re: Amazon shipping question

Almost all of the time it will ship in a brown amazon-box.

Usually if it's an odd-sized item (washing machine, or in my case, a huge DVD shelf (about 6 feet long, 2 feet wide, 12 inches deep, which might be hard to find an external box for)) they'll ship it in its original packaging as any packaging they use would add so much unnecessary bulk to it.

If they ship in original packaging, the description will say:

Ships in Original Packaging: This item ships separately and in the original manufacturer's packaging. There will be shipping labels attached to the outside of the package. You may mark this item as a gift if you do not wish to reveal the contents.

If you don't see that, you should be fine.

Since they probably don't want to throw a Blu-Ray player out there with the couriers knowing exactly what it is (or leaving it on a doorstep unattended) they'll probably box it up.

Re: Amazon shipping question

I would not put it past them to ship the blu ray player wrapped in bubble wrap, sans box.

Re: Amazon shipping question

I noticed some say...

Is this a gift? Please note that this item ships in its own packaging and cannot be gift-wrapped or concealed.
So if I don't order one that has that I should be ok?

Do they still do that "frustrtaion-free packaging" shit?

I remember a few years ago they were shipping hard drives out like that.
